I have been searching this site for a couple of hours this morning and not really coming up with much. I am hoping for some help finding a long block for my LX450. It seems strange to me that no one makes a "performance" engine for our trucks similar to what LC does for the minitruck market. Any leads would be great. The only reasonable thing I have found so far is a short block from Cdan and just building up with the rest of my components.

You can try Cruiserdan or Beno...MUD Vendor for factory stuff.. big bucks though

Thanks, I spoke to Dan and got a quote for a short block, I am kind of hoping for a long block though as my head and components have 191000 miles on it.

Long block

I may me in a similar boat. I found some guys in Houston who will rebuild and give you a 6mo warranty for 2300 incl shipping from San Antonio. Abt 2 week turnaround time. Japanese JDM Engines/ Engine in Los Angeles, California, Louisiana, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Houston,San Francisco, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Washington, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idahao, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Ma
I also found these guys in Austin who only work on cruisers. They also offer a rebuild for a similar price.

Not a huge deal to get the head redone if you go the short block option. Bolting the head on with it sitting on a stand is pretty straight forward.

Yah if I decide to go the shortblock route I will definitely go through the head. I most likely will go with the low mileage short block and with the savings I will get new exhaust to install at the same time.

I saw that one, it looks like a good candidate but if I bought it I would want to rebuild it before I put it in i think.

How soon were you looking for this engine? I just so happen to have a complete long block still in my parent's garage that I need to get out of there. It has a blown headgasket, but my business partner owns a very reputable engine shop, and I've been looking for an excuse to rebuild it. I could give you a very fair price.

The engine shop builds everything, just one of them: Curt Brown 2010 Buschur Sport Compact Shootout - YouTube

one more: Curt Brown's 781whp Talon - YouTube

Let me know if you're interested.

95toy. I PM'd you.

So I think I might just rebuild my original engine, I am searching for the required parts to do a proper rebuild, I am sure there are lots of posts on here but if anyone has some insight please feel free to speak up. Thanks,

Haven't taken the pan off yet, but quite positive I spun a rod bearing and seized a connecting rod.

I have a 1997 LX450 complete engine/transmission if interested. it's got 215k but was purrin like a kitten. I pulled it to put in a super chatrged engine. I live in RI but engine would need to be sent from CA.

spun bearings? yuck. I'd consider a used engine before overhauling that.

at least with my engine I know what I have, I think I prefer to bore, turn crank, new bearings, rods, gaskets etc.. then go through the head and put it back together with a fresh head gasket. This way I can do it on my own time and hopefully do it ONCE. A used engine is the cheapest easiest solution but might do it twice and I dont want to do that. We have a good machine shop locally that can do the work so I think I am better off.
