Looking for 76-78 FJ40

Looking for FJ40

Howdy.

I don't know much about 40s yet, but know a few things I'm looking for. Not looking for a hard core rig really but something I could drive into work (30 mi) about once a week. Fairly mechanically inclined but lack time and $$ for a restoration now. I travel to Colorado and far West Texas often so would like a rig that is very trail capable and up for the trip if I get that itch.

Things I'm looking for:

Little to no rust
power steering
disk brakes
hard top
winch
tires with some bite left
strong engine
good paint
lift
and whatever else...


I'm in Austin Texas and am willing to travel most anywhere for a quality rig. It'll be my first one and I want it to be solid.



Oh yeah, and I have around $8-10K to spend. Let me know if what I'm asking for and my price are out of line...

You need to come to one of our LSLC meeting. (lone star land cruisers)We are also meeting on Friday afternoons for happyhour at one of the local beer pubs in north austin. PM me for some details.

That is the best way to find a cruiser, ask a local cruiser guy.

Did you check out the '79 that JasonH is selling on this board. It is a great Cruiser that meets most of your criteria.

I am looking for a 40 with a solid body, possibly V8 350 conversion, ps, disk brakes, hard top, 4 spd tranny, some armor, low to mid level regarding mods...
price range has dropped some. $8-10K WILLING TO TRAVEL matter of fact, a road trip for a new 40 sounds fun.

Also the title says I'm looking for 76-78...turns out that's not as important to me as being capable on the trail AND the road. I don't want to have to trailer it to west Texas several times a year...

Super nice, insanely low miles, selling for way less than originally paid for. Buy it and I'd be bummed but there's always another 40......
