The cruiser will be parked outside for 9 weeks. I have a higher-end car cover and plan on disconnecting the negative battery cable before throwing the cover on. Interested in any suggestions, tips or other considerations regarding long term parking or storage of your 200. Unfortunately parking under a car port or inside a garage is not an option.

Appreciate your thoughts

9 weeks isn’t long. Fill the tank, put up sun shade, and leave it. I’d leave it uncovered as they do more harm than good and turn your NPC Toyota Highlander to a “what’s that” target for people.

The only time I would consider a car cover is if hail is common in your area during the time you'll be away. It won't protect against all hail, but it will help.

Yeah they can sit on a dealer lot longer than that lol.

Aside from what 04UZ said, maybe a battery tender if you are close to an outlet. If not no worries.

Ill be honest, I would usually agree with leaving out the cover, however recently the section of the roof in front of the sunroof has started to peel the clearcoat (its an 08). It has been a slow process and not really an issue as it was previously garaged but now is parked outside 100% of the time. My theory was at least the cover would provide some UV mitigation, possibly? Would a cover intensify the issue instead? All nine weeks will be in direct sunlight and elements.

I do agree covering can draw more attention, as well. Dang, not sure what to do at all now haha. 1st world problems, I know

Thanks for the responses

Wax it up with a UV protectant product and I bet you will be fine. The only other variable for storage would be rodents. Plenty of places for nests and wires for chewing - if you in an area with lots of them normally.

Don't lock the doors and lock the hood down when the cables are disconnected.

Maybe throw some moth balls around the vehicle depending where you’re parking it. Mine sat for a little bit and something chewed random wire harnesses 👎. If I recall, Toyota uses soy in their wire insulation, little critters enjoy it
