Hey guys, I would like to know which is better the aussie or ezlocker lockers.
If you have one, can you tell me your experience with it?
Can I use them for daily driving?

I have used, installed and sold lots of these and the (original) lockright too. They all work the same and perform comparably.

HOWEVER.. The EZlocker is now made by a new company (Earton IIRC) and the quality control has gone to hell. I had to return three of the last four that I bought. Talking to the guys at Randy's, they have been seeing a LOT of returns. Unoffical comments are that they might even drop them if things don't change. PLUS the price on these just went up a bunch.

My personal first choice for an autolocker is a Lockright. Folks seem to have nothing but good to say about the Ausie Locker. I had one which was shipped with incorrect parts. They shipped me the right parts at no charge happily (insisted on it even).

As things stand now, I have to recommend AGAINST buying an EZlocker.

Mark...

I have a Lockright, and I LOVE it. Best single addition to my 60 ever. If you search I have posted my driving impressions of it in ice, snow, and dry pavement....

Search a lots of info ..

I'm NOT a fan of auto locker for DD, but in my case my EZ locker broke after 6 month of moderate use ..

here see a pic .. of my EZ locker

I thought and auto locker are not for all persons .. in my case I can't deal with my EX and locke right when my HJ-60 was my DD .. but you need to lear how acelerate and turn.. and drive in a hill with turns.

got an aussie locker in the back of my 83 bj60 on 35" mtrs. hardly notice it except in the mud, cant hear it over the 3b. not a daily driver but id still run it in a dd. no problems yet but i did have the rear passenger tire come off. sheared 6 studs 4x4ing probally from over torqueing the nuts. bit of a dent in the rear quarter now too.

I just put in a "Quick-Lok", which I believe is a rebadged EZ Locker. No idea if it was pre or post quality issues as it may have been on the shelf for awhile where I bought it.

It works GREAT off-road, but is certainly noticeable on-road in tight turns. It's easy to adjust your driving a bit and keep it quiet and smooth, but I would go with ARB if it was my primary vehicle. For a rig that is an extra vehicle and/or mainly for wheeling, it's a great upgrade for the price.

I am not a big post guy but had to speak up on this one. I have Powertrax lockright auto lockers (now owned by Richman Gear) in the front and rear of my daily driving 60 and love them. The one in the rear was in a previous 60 of mine that was parted out. I have not had one single problem since my first one in 1998. I will buy Powertrax again for my next LC without hesitation or price consideration. I personally have never met anyone that has broken one either.

My 2 cents,

I held out for two years because I didn't think I would like a auto locker. I have had my lockright for 3 months now and I can't tell it's back there unless I'm off road.

IME aussie lockers are louder.

I run a LockRite in the rear of my 40. It is not a daily driver, but I do drive it on the streets with no problems at all. Only time it thuds or clanks is on tight turns, such as pulling into a parking space.

There has never been a durability issue either, I'm putting almost 250 hp to it out of a 400 SBC.

Installation couldnt be easier, especially if you have the axles out to do a rear disk brake install.

I would not hesitate to put one in my DD FJ60.

i run an aussie in the front and love it. never hear it when in 4wd. it just locks up and keeps on going. ive abused this thing too. ive had the front wheels spinning going up a rock face and smoking! ive had them bound up pretty well and it works great. broken one birf with them so far with 33s (need longfields)

im going to put another aussie in the rear in the next few months.

Good thread...
When I can afford a locker, im going with the Aussie. Good price and great reviews.
Ill probably save up for ARBs for the front though, but I need an engine, lift and....and....and...it just goes on and on doesnt it.

Chicago

if you can afford an arb then deff get one. i wish i had them front and rear but i dont have the cash and really just want to get out there and wheel with friends

edit

chicago- reno nevada eh?? ive been reading about some awesome trails or something in your area. ever been? (cant remember the name) i have a couple friends that live in sparks but they dont exactly have offroad trucks

lockrights are just fine... I was running one up front and it worked really well. Since I am up here in Oregon and we get snow most winters (and my cruiser will be a daily driver here soon) I decided to go with a arb up front for the times it does snow. Its very nice being able to switch it on and off as needed.

by the way the lockright will be up for sale very soon! (cheap!) :D
