Hey guys,
Posting this for a friend of mine. We are looking to see if there is any interest in my friends 1982 Land Cruiser FJ-40. He affectionately calls this one, "Sonny."

He purchased this one several years back from the original owner. It is dressed in the Olive Green (653) with classic white top. The paint has not been touched and does show a true patina.
There is rust and rust holes on the body - surface rust on the frame (see pics). The rust on the back quarters and in the foot wells are "daylighted." All repairable if you choose.

Mechanically, it's in great shape. Runs and Drives well. It has been sitting for several months but can be driven.

The Cruiser has less than 100k miles - sitting right at 78,596 miles.

He's looking to get $23,000 for the Cruiser. Let me know your thoughts. This is a great classic with only around 350 FJ40's built for the US in 1982.

No, this one does not have A/C.

Jeez where was that thing stored that will take a ton of metal work

Can you lift the mats and that metal cover and get pics of the floors. Are both sides of the trans tunnel gone

I can get back out there to get more pics of the foot wells. The owner did state he priced the metal work around $2k.

But yes, both sides you can see ground. Currently it's parked in the dry on concrete on top of a hill! ;)

Thanks for asking!

2K will be only floor metal parts ... + 6 months of labor to weld it .. in the end, it will cost as a new tube.. >10K
The front door needs work.. or replacement..
+Hood.. +ambulance doors.. + painting work for the whole truck .. a much much more ...
It could be a project truck.. but I think project trucks sold at different prices..

I appreciate that. I haven’t been in the 40 world and I am out of my element. I was putting it on here to get get good advice to give to my buddy who owns it.

Your opinion - or IH8Mud’s opinion - what would be a going price for a low mileage drive train that can be cleaned up with a Holy Bucket on top?

Thanks everyone, really do value the knowledge and opinions here.

Cheers

There’s some good there. Good year, great color. Low mileage Toyota drivetrain. But…😬 “All repairable” - technically yes. That looks like quite a bit of work. Not a problem at the right price, but $23k is aggressive.
