History of the Cruiser:

Purchased new in Georgia in 1994 sold to second owner in 1998 in Jackson MS for $30,000 with 40,000 miles. It was his wife's daily driver for 8 years, then it got parked in their shed and was used as a spare vehicle. s***-head teenager took it out and got it stuck in the mud so Dad said it had to go before someone tore it up.

Truck is 100% rust free

157,461 miles, 2 owners (I do not plan on registering it)
Jump Seats included but not pictured

It was running rough and the check engine light was on when I got it.

This weekend I installed all OEM Parts:

1) OEM Toyota ACC Tune Up kit (plugs, wires, cap, fuel filter)
2) New Toyota Belts
3) New Toyota Air Filter and PCV Palve
4) OEM Thermostat, gasket, temp sending unit, Red Toyota fluid

Engine is clean and in great running condition.

The Good:

Low Mileage, Southern Truck, Adult driven, non-smoker

I completely removed the entire interior this weekend to pressure wash the carpet. There are some stains, but it is completely clean now

Seats are not torn anywhere

Plastic is all in great shape as is the roof liner and all of the buttons

"D" light works, electric antenna has been replaced with rubber, electric windows are all fast and smooth

No fluid or exhaust leaks

Heater hoses seem to be new

Doors are all super tight, no air noise. Sunroof functions perfectly

Drives without any vibrations

The Bad

This truck was driven by a lady to the grocery store for nearly 10 years. There are plenty of war wounds on the truck. Mostly just door dings.

There is some paint fade on the hood (pictured)

Paint is solid and there is none that needs to be addressed for fear of rust. Solid, just used.

Needs tires, these are about 30%

Seats need plastic gears to go forward and back. All of the other adjustments work, but it needs the kit on both sides. See thread below for repair. If I don't sell it quick, I will do this when I have time.

The two center vents in the dash are loose. I pulled them and there is a plastic tab missing on one. I shimmed it and it is fine but not perfect. There are also some holes that were drilled in the center hump plastic from a mobile phone cradle that I removed. You can see them in the above pictures.

The Lockers are not working. The prior owner did not know what they were and in the 13 years he has owned it, they have not been engaged. From everything I read, the main issue there is getting them to lock the first time. Spend time in 4 Low with the locker switches on and drive in figure 8's and circles. Sometimes it takes a 1/2 hour that I have not invested in it. There are about 25 threads on this issue and worst case, it may need to have the contacts cleaned. If I keep it a while, I will keep working on it.

Lastly, the starter is intermittent. It will click at time and start at times. Here are the tech threads on the issue. EDIT: Loose ground. I fixed it......10-15 starts after tightening the ground with no "click" starts....

I have a local club member looking at it on Thursday. I will let you know how that goes. Feel free to bring others to look at it. I will update this thread if anything changes on any of the issues it has that I can correct this week or if it gets purchased. Plan on Sunday if you schedule a trip down. I have a big family reunion at my house on Saturday.

bump for a fellow Cottonlander

Beautiful truck, and my all-time favorite year of the 80 Series. I think the factory locked trucks are getting more and more rare. I would not be worried about the lockers, all of the common issues surrounding those are easy to fix.

Do you have any of those 17 year old fries left? lol Would love to pick up but wife would kill me if I got another cruiser
