My local lexus dealership couldn't find my
Big arse engine cover and engine fuse box
Cover lol! How do you loose something that big!? Fortunately carmax re placed it.
Scary...

I looked at a GX for sale at a Lexus dealer a few weeks ago, someone had used the engine cover as a place to record oil changes, in Sharpie pen.

Better than nothing

In defense of Toyota dealers:

My local dealer is fantastic. They recognize the Landcruiser as the flagship and treat it and their owners as such. One visit and I didn't feel the need to go to Lexus for service.

It also helps if you service your truck in an affluent area that manages to sell and see enough Landcruisers.

I would definitely contact the Toyota Corp on this. This is absolutely inexcusable. Our dealer here I feel is pretty fair, and honest. I do think they are all trying to make more than they should by suggesting repairs or additional work though. I feel it's like a bank. You go in and open a checking account, then they offer you a credit card, line of credit, Investment account, and don't forget the CD. All I really need is the checking account. Go to the dealer for an oil change and they offer you an alignment, new OEM tires, brake pads, rotors, Gear oil, Tranny servicing, rotation, etc...

My experience too. In fact, my service guy suggests alternate shops who will do the same work cheaper when it's helpful to me. Super honest...

Example: When my 100 series was damaged in the MASSIVE fires of 2003 in California while I used it to literally herd llamas out of a burning field, Simo at my local Toyota lobbied Toyota Corporate for help...and they DONATED $8K worth of parts to me...all I paid was $1500 labor...and that was OUT of warranty. That was only after dealing with him for less than one year, and he's been my best resource ever since.

If anyone is in San Diego area, I HIGHLY recommend that you deal with Simo, my service guy, at Toyota of El Cajon. Tell them "Mark the Land Cruiser guy" sent you and he will do his best.

Also... I agree with @COLandCrusher that you should absolutely contact Toyota Corporate to report such blatant abuses. They will NOT be happy about it. Toyota is a good company, and they value their reputation.

Toyota USA won't do s***. Dealers are franchised not owned by Toyota. I know all too well.

I disagree. Yes, they are franchised, but Toyota does intervene when their reputation is being abused.

I went through this. If the dealer doesn't want to comply they don't have to.

I missed that you "went through it..." so I guess I must be wrong. ;) haha

For my part:
I get it. There's no law against service guys being idiots.
But...
-My experience over 24 years dealing with Toyota has included multiple examples that made it abundantly clear to me that Toyota Corporate DOES, in fact, "give a sh--."

Attitude, positive expectations & approach may play a role here... Just sayin...

I know how to tactfully up channel complaints.

That wasn't my experience at all.

Ya, and that sucks.

I'm all for calling out consistently BAD dealerships... Good to know which ones to avoid. It's too bad repair management/judgement is so subjective, and also unfortunate it can be so dependent upon the personality of the service rep. I vote for robot managers at crappy dealerships. :)

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles, I was excited for you when you picked up your Landcruiser.

Toyota and Honda are actually overall pretty strict and your complaints will be heard. Which is more than anyone can say for Porsche. Some markets have horrible dealers and nothing ever changes.
