I'm having a heck of a time sourcing a steering stabilizer for my 1990 RHD LJ78.

Could someone provide me a part #?

I'm also installing an OME suspension and am having trouble finding casters and bushings.

Thanks in advance for your support.

I am located in Canada, can you recommend something more locally?

Shipping from Australia to Canada is damn expensive.

LOL! buys a truck from Japan and then balks at shipping from Oz.
i guess you should have bought a CDM.

same steering stabilizer as the 70, 60 series.

Post up your location... if you take the time to fill in you profile properly, then you will notice that there's a space for that.

I keep these in stock all the time. I am in Canada and will ship to most locations.

The truck was already imported here, why are you making assumptions about me? I bought if from a mechanic in Calgary.
So yeah...I'd like to avoid high shipping charges if at all possible.

Thank you John, I have updated my profile. I didn't realize until you pointed it out that it didn't show my location. I'm a part of roughly 25 different forums, so sometimes I don't keep up all my profiles.

I've tried generic searches on the net for "70 series LJ78 stabilizer etc" but it's not as reliable as consulting with knowledgeable people such as yourself.

John, what would an entire OME suspension kit cost? (Coils, shocks, stabilizer, bushings etc.) from you?

Is this the correct parts list: http://www.arbusa.com/uploads/PDF/accessorizeYourRig/toyotaLandCruiser70-73-74.pdf

I'd like to put in a small plug for John at Radd Cruisers. Whenever I call him for a quote he always treats me with the utmost respect, and never rushes anything. I have some solid respect for him and his establishment.

i am not making assumptions

i said you bought a truck from Japan, in other words, you bought an import (i never said YOU imported it since that is irrelevant) not sold in Canada and not supported by local vendors in Canada (Napa, Carquest, Toyota etc) and then balk at the idea of having to pay shipping for parts from overseas.

where do you think the parts are going to come from? even if John, Steve etc have the parts then, unless they have been able to do a cross reference with a NA part number, they will be bringing the parts in from said countries, doing the markup and selling them to you.

wake up and settle down.

wait till the head packs it in, then you will know exactly how expensive these LJ78s get to be in a hurry.

land cruisers are not cheap, remember that.
as crushers said in a previous post.
having a prado I hope you don't learn it the unfortunate way but it usually happens that way.

Again, you make another assumption. The head on this truck has already packed it in and was replaced by the mechanic before I bought it. You're very predictable with your responses. I'm not new to this forum and I know how opinionated you are (especially in regards to the LJ78), and it doesn't bother me at all. I'm not mad or excited, I just don't put up with people like yourself. You have the wisdom of a seasoned veteran yet you act like a teenager. You just fill up posts with unnecessary and presumptuous remarks. I'm certain that 13,000 of your posts on this board are just you stating your opinion for everyone to see on a subject that inadvertently leads into a flame war. I'm just not into that. I'm into humble mechanics that offer sound advice and work towards a solution. The length and size of your Signature alone reflects how opinionated of a person you are.

I know that this truck costs money, and with that knowledge I try my best to save where I can so I can afford the big ticket items. I'm into enjoying my LJ78, not coming onto a forum and ranting and raving about the engineering faults of 20 years ago.

If you had paid any attention to my very first post instead of fueling up your opinion, you would have seen that I asked for a part number. But instead of saying "I'm not sure of the part number", you went ahead with your pre-canned speech about the LJ78. You're preaching to the choir bud.

The reason I asked for a part number is because a guy in town can get me the parts locally at wholesale cost but he's having trouble finding the steering stabilizer.

I don't pay for the shipping because the stabilizer will get thrown in with their flat rated shipments of the other parts the store orders.

hey, big tough guy, reread my first post and you will see your answer you can get them from Napa.
<predicatable response: the head was replaced, big deal, then start budgeting for the next one.>

if you don't like my responses then there is the "ignore" button, might be best if you learn to use it.
<<seems like those that own the LJ series have very sensitive dispositions.>>:hmm:

That parts list is for the heavy duty Land Cruisers with leaf springs, you need to look at the "Bundera" parts lists - probably easier to find on the Aussie ARB website.

Hey Markhc. The OME part number is OMESD24. They are pretty cheap or expensive (depends how you look at it) for a basic shock. I bought mine about two years ago and paid $99.98 plus tax from North Shore Off Road. Watch out for the clamp that locks the left outer tie rod, if it is not rotated out of the way the lock bolt hits the end of the shock denting it. Any steering stabilizer will work as long as the eyelets of the dampener can easily mount and the stroke in and out doesn't stop your steering from full movement.

Take Care

You're probably right crushers, ignoring is the best way of dealing with you. And again, I don't have a sensitive disposition. I just don't put up with opinionated people such as yourself. Get over it. You should really follow ~John and Pradocruzer's example in how to help a person. They are respectable people and I would help them out in whatever way I could if the opportunity ever presents itself.

Thank you for the useful information John. I'll have a look at the Aussie site. I may contact you soon for some parts.

Hey thanks! And I appreciate the tip! Very useful!

Its threads like this that makes me regret selling my LJ78. I do miss the jolly banter among Forum members.:)
.......1978HJ45

milner off road.co.uk sell the two types of heads for the 2.4 tubro for about £250 to £300 sterling.

Im making a quick trip to Utah next week and picking up an OMEsd24 steering stabilizer for by BJ74. The part number is the same for the LJ78, I could pick it up for you. It's $81 US if you're interested. PM me.

However, this will only be beneficial to you if you live in the Edmonton area.

oh my bad, i missed the part where you said:
"i am too bloody lazy to look up the part number (don't give me a cross reference) on my own so somebody look it up for me and post it up."

If you had paid any attention to my very first post instead of fueling up your opinion, you would have seen that I asked for a part number. .
