My LJ78 came without an aircon compressor, but luckily the windows and sunroof is working now :)

My question - How do I check if there is still gas in the system or would it be a no brainer that if the aircon compressor has been removed, there will be no gas in the system?

The goal is to remove the entire system for now and look at alternative kits in the future.

If you had a/c but the compressor is bad, check with joekatana, he has kits and may have a compressor only.

From what I recall, the LJ78 A/C Compressor is a direct cross to many north american Toyota models. But it has been a few years since I've looked into it.

If you can live without it, the 2LTE will run cooler without the condenser in front of the radiator though.

Thank you. Definitely agree.
