remember aluminum cools better than copper so 3 core aluminum will work better than the 4 core factory redone.
 
So for us Canadians I measured up a 85 bj 70 rad the other day and it would seem that they are the same size as the lj 78. I was very excited until I got the $1000.00 price from the local parts store.

Anyways I looked into recoring my old one. 450 at a local shop here... I'm going to go that route. Turns out my current rad isn't only leaking but it's missing an entire row!
 
If you have the budget - I would go with an even bigger rad than stock size and 4 core. My system is all new and I still find, up hills for sometime, get me into the 210 range. (Half way on factory temp gauge)

Pulled a 4x8 trailer up a hill with my motorcycle on it and it went all the way to 218- luckily then the road flattened out. So, that said - factory system not good enough. Are you running ac? Heard removal of ac helps as lots more air gets to the rad.

I'm looking at adding intercooler system this fall and custom tranny cooler.
 
Yeah My current rad is a 4 core. The rad shop tells me that is has been recored already at one time. I deleted my AC completely as I was missing the ac pump already when I bought the truck.

The rad I have already fits the opening on the front of the truck quite well. I'm not sure I can go much wider but maybe taller?
 
3 X 3/4" = 2.25"
4 X 1/2" = 2" of cooling
if you are going the recore route then go with the 3 extra large. i did this on a LJ78 ... it did seem to help, plus, i was told, it is easier to cool the 3 core than the 4 core as well as easier to clean after playing in the mud or seeds or leaves etc.
 
Will this radiator fit the LJ78 becuase mine LJ78 was originally a first RHD and It was switch to LHD?

The RHD to LHD swap should not change the radiator. The main thing before you buy any radiator is to take measurements of yours and compare it to the measurement specs of the radiator you'd like to buy. Then you will know for sure.
