I know, this was has been seen before but I just need an end to my confusion so I can change my oil ASAP!

According to the EPC for my engine I require the 90915 30002 oil filter.

According to this post the cross referenced FRAM filter is PH6357.

If I am not wrong so far, then I'm good.

The question is, is it worth the extra $$ for the original Toyota filter? Is the FRAM filter also dual element?

I would always use a genuine oil filter and fuel filter, its the oil filter that is responsable for keeping those metal particles out of the system.
Peace of mind for me, but I suspect a full blown test of filters would not show much difference, maybe?

There are filters that cross over to fit the Camry diesel and others. They are often smaller in size, but are the correct fit.

Generally, I feel that the Toyota filters are the way to go.

Just off the phone with WIX oil filter rep who said they have a replacement oil filter for the Toyota 1KZ-TE turbo-diesel engine-- last verified through parts testing in 2017.

Using Toyota's Oil Filter part number as (90915-30002), the part number for the WIX oil filter is 57524. WIX oil filter specifications follow: Height 4.72 inches; outer diameter top 4.09 inches; thread size is 24x1.5 mm; bypass valve setting is 22 psi; and it has an anti-drain back valve.

Thoughts?

Just get the Toyota filter at any dealership and be done with it.

Why do you want to make this more difficult than it has to be?

cheaper the better, I pay $17.25 for my filters, one didnt come with the oring, crack up, changing the filter every 10,00ks gets expensive considering toyota wants 50 bucks, never had an issue? fuel filter is cheap at 20 bucks as well

its a brand called JS here in NZ and its got a shop counter as well which is so handy

No intent to make it harder, my experience with OEM is that there can be better options.

Thanks for your input Onur.

@MSC , not trying to start a spat, but trying to head off some potential problems. The Wix picture posted above doesn't match the number in the post. Just trying to give a heads up to anyone that orders Wix 57524 as attachment links to Wix 57254. Not sure which is correct.

I personally use 90915-30002. This is the same filter for 2L-TII, but NOT 2L-T first gen. just FYI.

Whats the filtration like on the OEM? Ryco are say their z334 is 98.7% efficiency .

Got my 90915-30002 Oil Filters off of Amazon for 38.50. Well worth the peace of mind to run OEM, in my opinion.

Related question: Does anyone know offhand what the number for the oil drain plug for the 2lTE is? It's time to change mine out.

another related question, what oil brand and weight are you all using? I used to used one while living in Japan but I won't be able to find it here and I've been thinking of using the Chevron Delo

There are lots of good aftermarkets filters that are as good as OEM. Those big road trains running across continents often use aftermarket filters like Donaldson.
If they were dying from failing oil filters, someone would be up for a lot of money.
In fact I can not recall an oil filter killing an engine if it was the correct type
This Denso filter for a car is quite low in specs to others.

All fair points man. In my case, it was easier to track down the Toyota part number and just order that, rather than take the express steps to figure out the equivalent aftermarket filter size for a vehicle that was never sold in the US. I run Napa gold filters on my 80, if I could find the right filter for the 1KZ I’d totally do that.

I found NAPA #7254 works in my kzn185. I think you can cross reference that number to a fleetguard if you wanted to take it a step further, but I haven't been able to verify that yet.
