Hi group.
I am waiting for my truck to ship from japan.
In the mean while I am trying to source out oil and fuel filters for a 3L engine. I think amsoil makes them, does anyone have any parts numbers?
I am hoping I will be able to get things like breake pads here, and hopefully nothing goes wrong with the engine for the next 300kkm.
thanks
mika

Wonder if its the same filter as the 2LT uses? If so it could be purchased just about anywhere.

Brake parts are off the shelf from most auto parts stores, basically mini truck parts of the same erra.

Great engine, heard very little about it but it should pull crazy high miles like the venerable 3B.

Good luck.

Rob

The 2L and 3B use the equivalent of a Fram PH8A. Cheap and common just the way I like it :)

According to the EPC the 3L takes the big beefy dual element and unfortunately expensive 90915-30002 (~$30cdn) just like the 2LTII/2LTE.

Hi there,

If I'm not mistaken (and if I am I'm sure someone will let me know) the 3L takes the same oil filter as the 2LT-II. I have a whole list of cross referenced part numbers, but really the best place to get them is to order them from the US.

You CAN buy them locally from 4Wheel or from Toyota, but they are much, much more expensive for some reason. I have a case coming from Toyota of Dallas and if I don't get hit with customs fees then the price per filter should come out to about $14 each.

I am currently using a Baldwin rebranded Hastings filter that I picked up locally for about $14, but I'm not 100% sure it's the correct filter and am not comfortable using it long term. I never could find a reliable cross reference for the one I'm using.

Here is my list of cross reference numbers in case you need them:

Sakura Oil Filter: C-1112 (Z334) (4WheelAuto: $39.00)
FRAM: PH6357
WIX: 51368
Fleetguard: LF3608 (Western Cummings: $38.22)
AC-DELCO: PF30001
Toyota: 90915-30002 (Mayfield Toyota: $31.00 with TLCA discount)
Hastings: LF191
ALCO SP993
AMC TO140
BALDWIN BD7029 (Someone in Edmonton (can't remember who): $37.00)
BOSCH 0986452062
CHAMPION K274
COOPERS Z1043
CROSLAND 2109
DELPHI FX0125 and FX0163
FIAAM FT5429
FILTRON OP619/1
FLEETGUARD LF3608
FRAM PH6357 and PH5123
JAPANPARTS JFO213
LAUTRETTE ELH4240
MAHLE GROUP OC275
MANN WP928/80
M-FILTER MH3352
NIPPARTS J1312013
P.B.R. BC1214
PURFLUX LS895

SOFIMA S3248DR
TECNOCAR RD1216

Fram PH8A

My 3l takes a equivelent to the Fram PH8A, I expected it to be the more expensive 90915-30002 but was pleasently surprised when I did the first oil change. I tried one of each and the thread size is definetly the cheaper 15600-41010 filter.

hummm, interesting since i pulled the part number from the EPC...

side tale:
i went into the local Napa the other day and a new counter boy was there. i ordered a 3B oil filter, with out even looking the part number up he says:
"oh, we will have to order that one in. we don't stock diesel oil filters"
"grab me a ford 302 oil filter, it is the same"
"no, you need a special filter for that engine"
"kid, get me what i am asking for"

he comes back with the oil filter and hands it to me saying
"there will be no warranty on that filter!!"
"say what?"
"there will be no warranty on that filter!!"
"can i see the manager please"

dumbfounded he just looked at me,
"can i see the manager please"
he goes and gets the manager, i explain the situation and the manager confirms there will be a warranty on the filter...damn punk ass kid.

You know, that's really interesting. When my girlfriend got her 1989 Hilux I was told by both 4Wheel Auto and Marko of Outback that it took the same filter as my truck (1990 Surf). So I gave her the 90915-30002 that I was using on my truck and she took it with her to the garage that was changing her oil. They said it didn't fit. So I didn't know who to believe.

Regardless, that engine is gone now, so it's a moot point for us.

Thanks Crushers for the reply.
Can't wait till the truck comes in, it was shipped yesterday. Wonder how long till it arrives and clears customs?
anyway good story about the napa filter. I wish hiluxes came with the 3b.

Hey guys, sorry to newb it up in here, but i can't get anything to fit on my SSR-X 2.4L T-Diesel. I don't want to pay the big $$ for the OEM one, the PH8A certainly didn't fit, and they can't seem to find a framm PH5123...

Help? Please?
