My 1995 HZJ75 has a "Light Reminder Relay"
Can someone explain what it is supposed to do... and since I'm pretty sure mine is doing nothing please explain with enough detail that I might have a shot at getting it to do its thing!

Can you pop it open? Most of the Toyota relays I have seen are unsealed and really easy to open. See if there is a speaker in there.

I remember your post in the FB group about this. Looking forward to seeing your outcome.

Based on that drawing it's pretty clear. If a door is open or a light is on it dings. And my HDJ81 doesn't ding. So now I have something to investigate. Sweet.

That's exactly what I think should be happening but it's not in my truck either. I have yet to find someone to tell me that this works in their rig.

I've only had mine a year. So I haven't ever thought to look. I just assumed it did not ding

Where is the location of that relay in the truck? I would like to get mine working as well. I have left the headlights on quite a few times.

Lights ON
Key OUT of the ignition

-> buzzer may buzz

Some 80s have a relay to turn lights off when key is removed. I "think" that relay is labelled light reminder.

@Nemesis1207 might be able to shed some light on this

We are pretty sure we know what is SHOULD do... we have still not found someone that can say for sure that this is correct...

@woytovich

Fair enough ! Sorry about this as I read the whole thread thinking the key out of the ignition was not mentioned. Look like I jumped over post #2.

I'm sorry about that.:bag:

Just looked under my steering wheel where it should be right next to the reverse beeper (which I disconnected last month). Nada. Looks like a Euro spec item per the diagram above?
Do all these trucks have the reverse beeper? I thought mine was aftermarket. I need to find that thing and rip it out. Super annoying.

Worst design ever. A beeper INSIDE the truck in reverse.

On a RHD, it's below the steering wheel near your left knee. You'll hear it beeping away down there in reverse. You can either disconnect it or gut the speaker out of the assembly. I did the latter, as it was far more satisfying.

I thought it was behind the cluster?

We might be talking about two different buzzers. I'm talking about the reverse beeper (not the light reminder). My reverse beeper was definitely by the left knee.
Awesome, thank you. I have tried to find it, but couldn't hear where it was coming from. Can't wait to get rid of it.
