Hi all,
Hope you can offer some advice on something that's been bugging me for awhile. I have a 2.5" MAF Safari lift on my 60. Paid extra and got the OME shackles, shocks, etc. Was told that this would include the medium shocks. Actually received the light ones. In my haste to install the lift, I didn't take the time to return the shocks and exchange for mediums.
I kinda wish I did exchange them because...there are a few situations where I think I'm not getting enough damping. Both examples are on the freeway. One is what I guess you could call axle tramp - the road surface has small undulations from heavy truck traffic, and my axles hammer up/down and make a really loud noise. The whole truck shakes in a pretty violent way. The second is more of a front/rear pitch. Again the road has some irrigularities, but in this case the peak to peak distance is longer (longer wavelength). Once the front/rear pitch happens, it becomes very pronounced.
Tires are 33X9.50, at 32psi. Everything in the suspension/axles/etc is new or adjusted to spec.
Assuming that it's the shocks, am I best to go to the OME mediums, or I'm wondering if the heavy's would be better? I plan on bigger tires w/in the next 12 months. I use my cruiser as a DD, and as a vehicle to get to the mountains to camp/ski/hike/climb/etc. I carry multiple people, and gear. I don't mind a stiff ride, actually I prefer it to a sloppy or out of control one.
Any thoughts/suggestions/advice is welcome.
Best Regards,
