Ok, I've had it. Can't find good light bulbs for my drop lights. Just a plain old light bulb for drop lights that will last longer than the job I'm working on. LEDs, etc., don't cut it in a drop light. They're fine in the flood light type. What are you guys using.

I use 'Heavy Duty' bulbs designed for use in bench grinders and such. My local Ace always has them in stock.

Thanks guys, I tried some HD bulbs off the WWW that were junk, I'll go to Ace and try theirs.

What is killing the bulbs? The LED bulbs are plastic shells and the LEDs are vibration resistant. I’m still on the first LED bulb I put in my droplight when the incandescent bulbs would only last a couple months at the most.

The LEDs last, but the light doesn't fill the whole area as well as a regular bulb. I use all LEDs in my home, but they mostly are pointed straight down, if that makes any sense. I like a drop light to shine on the whole area, not just from the tip of the bulb. Maybe I should look for a different type LED.

The older LEDs do seem to be more “projector” type than “flood” type, but they’ve improved greatly recently. I’ve been using the Sylvania bulbs from Lowes:

The dimmable ones are a bit more expensive - and not needed in a droplight or typical fixture. I dislike the “daylight” bulbs for the house - too blue and it makes everyone look like zombies. But they’re great for the shop where you need some bright, stark light.

LED hood lights, after seeing them in in a shop, on my purchase list.
