Hi guys ...I have the itch to do a lift on my1996 LX450 . I have done over 100 lifts on mostly jeeps and american trucks .
I was looking at slee and man-a-free and what they had to offer.
I would like to run a 35 inch tire , but would be happy with a 33 , I'm the type that if I went with a 4 " lift say to my self I should have went with the 6 inch lift ...LOL
I don't plan on doing a gear swap unless I found a complete set of axles . I do like slee's 6" kit ...I might just buy the parts ...I would would have my driveshaft guy build my back and front CV shafts ... I can get CV shafts under 200 each .
I would like to go with a Dick Cepek ...I like the arctic truck look .
Anyone running a 6inch lift with a 33inch tire ...thats the route I may go.
Thanks
Greg:cheers:

well, a 6" lift with a 33" tire isn't going to be the arctic look. Quite the opposite I would think. This is of course highly subjective but I think the 33s would look way too small with a 6" lift. Looks weird to me. Isn't one of the main reasons to get a lift in the first place the increased ability to get bigger tires for more ground clearance? Considering all the trouble and expense needed for a 6", seems like sticking with 33s would be very self-limiting.

3" lift and 35's pictured.

Answer your question about 6" and 33's?

80's seem to swallow up tires.

Why do you automatically think a CV shaft is warrented? These aren't Jeeps or American made so I'd slow down and take a look at what you're dealing with.

You can run 285's...aka 33's with NO lift. So with 6" 33's are gonna look :hillbilly

With the 6" lift you are in the 37-40" range...

Re: Lifts

Thats why I'm asking the experts ...I hope ...LOL . I would like to run a tall 35 inch tire maybe 15 or 16 inch wide ... my main consern would be to much tire and not enough gear ... I don't want it to be a dog .
The truck will never really see any hard core 4wheeling like you guys out west ...I climb , hills , rocks , run mud with the atv's .
I would happy with a 4inch lift after seeing the pic's that were posted .
As for the drive shafts , I have no lift and can feel a very mild drive line vibration ... more so at lower speeds ... but it dose seem normal ...I still have to do the u-joints .
I'm not sure what kind of angles these short shafts handle .
What 4 inch kit would you guys recomend ... keep in mind I want a good ride , but I see a cummins 4 bt in my 80's future .
Thanks guys

For the most part the CV front shaft only comes into play with the 4" lift and adding the appropriate amount of caster correction. Do a search on threads with Grr in the title and you'll have plenty of reading ahead of you. While some non-lifted trucks had issues, there is a bunch of others all around what would be considered a 4" lift, whether done with a single spring or with spacers out there.

I posted my setup at the top of the forum. It's basically 4" lift but I purposely mixed and matched items to try and get the best of everything.

It's already a dog :D

35's mean you'll want to run in PWR mode and you'll probably use the OD off switch quite a bit...33's probably mean the same thing if you are running a really wide tire.

If you just want 35's, and you don't want to mess with the driveline, then you can stay at 2.5". You just need springs and shocks.

You have two basic options: an unloaded rig without the heavy bumpers and other accessories, or using a taller spring with all the goodies' extra weight compressing the springs back down to the 2.5" range.

F.O.R. is putting out a kit for 35's, and OME is designed for 33's. OME's designations for this are medium and heavy.

I think Slee is your option for a 4" kit. As others have said, for road use I'm not sure why you'd want the 6" as it will make 35's look small.

Nay

6" Slee lift gets you no more tire clearance, if you're flexing and stuffing the tires to the bump stops, than the 4" kit - same bumpstops, same shocks. Might gain a little in the front with the longer arms - don't know that 100%.

Thanks Guys for all the info ...
