Well I don't want to bug you guys to much.
I know you are sick of the OME subject,
But I have a diesel so its a little different.
Just want to be sure before I drop the cash.

Front:
1HD-T diesel. 2 optima batteries, ARB and M8000 warn winch (roller fairlead)

Rear:
rear ladder, rear tire carrier, full size spare. 100lbs of gear. roof rack.

Future plans,
sliders and rear drawer. adding a rear drawer will mean more gear again.

Anyways, I already know I want a OME heavy lift.
Thinking 863 in the back.
So I am wondering about the front.
Is the 850 to light for all my wieght?
Should I go 850J? I heard the J was mean for diesels.

I want the back to sit 3/4 of an inch higher. So when I get everything in, there will be a slight 1/2 to 5/8 rake. I do load up the back on occasion. gear and people. And tow once or twice a year.

So thinking
850J and 863.
This sound right?
Or should I got 863J's in the back?
Or 850/863 with spacers.

Someone please help, I think my diesel is throwing things off.
Can't find any good threads with diesels.
No one in the international/diesel section can help me.
Just don't want the front or back to be to high.
I am not a rock cralwer. I do more expedition wheeling,

Many many thanks,
Nick

BTW: I am think about signing up for ROTW.
Would like to share my diesel 80 with you.

Nickw,

I pretty much use my own 80 for long trips and very rare trips into real farm country where roads are more a description and faint signs on the ground than reality. Frankly, I'm of the opinion that you are already properly equipped for expedition wheeling with rare towing.

You might want to install some 1" ring spacers as I'm pretty sure that you'll compress about 2" when fully loaded.

Hello Kalawang,

My current shocks are dying fast so they need to be replaced.
They are OEM and getting to point of being unsafe.
From Japan I already have a 2" Rancho spring lift.
They are too soft for me, so they are getting replaced too.

Thus I want to replace everything with OME.
Just not sure what combo. Don't need piles of clearance.
But would a liitle more than what I have.

Cheers,
Nick

I can't really address the diesel issue But I started with the OME heavys all around and after adding the ARB, 12k warn and dual batteries the rear was about 1 1/2-2 inches higher than the front. I switched the front to "J" springs and gained slightly less than an inch.

I would assume that any weight difference between the gas and diesel would equal the difference in weight of our winches...I think it should work out as you expect.

When I ordered my first set of OME springs I wanted to have a nice compromise between stiffness and comfort, so I ordered the medium duty ones. Should have ordered the heaviest ones (Js).
