Coded my key today via TechStream to a 2015 LC, took all of 5 min and this was the first time I used TechStream. Works great!

Can confirm this cable worked for me on a 2015 LC

For anyone looking to buy, I highly recommend the vxdiag cable instead. Those cheap chinese cables are fine for some functions, but wont do others (tire sensor reprogram, etc.).

DID IT in my 2013!!!! It’s awesome. I’m a minimalist so I’m happy as hell to get rid of the key fob. Only thing I miss are the buttons. I do wish they incorporated the buttons into the card somehow just because I use the alarm when I forget where I park. Other than that, it’s perfect!

ONE NOTE: when installing I was getting the attached error, “Note: Reduced Functionality - Techstream was unable to access the network. Some information may not be available. Features such as campaign validation will not function in offline mode” — This had NO affect on programming the key. I’m not sure what “network” it’s speaking of

I love my CC card key as well, does anyone know of a way to tie the seat memory to the CC key like you can w/ the fob? That is the one thing I miss.

Does anyone know the fcc id of a 2021 HE keyfob? Just bought a Rav4 Prime and I hate the humongous keyfob (HYQ14FBX) and I’m wondering if the HE have the same ID so that I can get a Lexus Card.

Hi. I need some help. I went to a blacktie event and valeted my 200 (stupid). I gave the guy the whole smart key card (also stupid). I noticed 3 days later that the slide out piece (the mechanical key that slides out) was missing. I have no idea whether it was missing previously as I don't have a need to look at the card itself very often but I think I would've noticed. I am nervous that if one of the valet guys took this my car could be stolen (paranoid I know). I'm not certain that it was taken there but I did think it was weird when I picked up my car, I got a warning on the dash about the key card battery being low. So I have multiple questions if someone has a complete key they could look at and help me answer.

1. How easily does the mechanical key come out. I think there is a little round metal button that needs to be pushed in to pull out the mechanical key. My guess is that it takes a little doing and it's not likely to slide out inadvertently.

2. Could the mechanical key come out easier while you are changing the battery. I'm wondering if I could've dislodged it while changing the battery.

3. If necessary, can I take all my keys and get the entire car reprogrammed so that the missed valet mechanical key can't start the car?

4. Any idea of the cost of #3.

I realize that it's a bit paranoid to think that the valet would take the mechanical key, find my name and address from the insurance in the car and come steal my ride. That said, my 200 is long on upgrades, still basically new with 16k miles on it and I was recently offered well over invoice for it. It's basically irreplaceable and if stolen, my insurance would probably not come close to paying me out the replacement value (I plan to rectify this as a result of this incident). Any help on this is greatly appreciated. I am leaning toward a full reprogramming (#3) for peace of mind. Thank you for any help!

All of the detail aside, there is one key detail here (pun intended). There is no way to start the car with a mechanical key.

Sure someone could access the inside of the vehicle with that mechanical key, but without techstream and a laptop, they couldn’t add a new key to the cars memory nor start the car without the rest of the fob. If the valet was that sophisticated they could have just cloned the key with a signal repeater tool that one can buy off the internet and not need to tip their hand with stealing the mechanical key.

I'm leaning towards accident. FWIW I don’t actually have a mechanical key in my card key because I didn’t see the value in it when I programmed up the card to the car.

Pretty sure that's not true. The whole reason for the existence of the valet key slide out is to allow the valet to start your car. Try this: take your mechanical key out of one of your regular fobs with buttons, leave the button part in the house, take the mechanical key and hold it up next to the start button and try to start your car. Voila. I tested this last night.

My card key has never had a metal slide out key, as in I bought it without one, the card is the transceiver that starts the car.

Valet keys were to be able to unlock the car and start it, but not being able to unlock the glovebox. The existence of the valet key is so that you could lock important items in the glovebox and take the physical key blade with you and leave the fob with the valet allowing them to start and unlock the car without having access to the glovebox.

Perhaps I’m misreading your post, but it reads like you’re implying that just the metal key blade portion will start the car without the fob inside which just isn’t true.

Weird. I'm sure I did it last night with just the metal blade but maybe I had another key nearby. Nothing to worry about then! Sorry for the confusion!
