A little DIY rack I built last year.

WOW, that's perfect. Super low profile and beefy with that 80/20 on there. Well done!

Does anyone know which roof rack has the lowest profile?

Question for all you Gamaviti owners,

When looking at an Expo rack, can the height of the rack be adjusted so the lower perimeter rail can be tall enough to wrap your hand around the rack when using it as a grab rail OR are you supposed to grab the upper section of tubing as the “handle?”

If so is the spacing enough between the two tubes enough to get a real good purchase on and not bust your knuckles or anything?

You know how some cars have crab handles inside them but they are to close and don’t stand off enough to get your while hand in there to really hang onto. I want to be sure you can get a real good grip on it.

What kind of mileage decreases are y'all seeing with these racks when unloaded? Interested but my LX is my DD and i do alot of back and forth between Statesboro and Augusta every other week (90 miles or so).

I don’t even pay attention to gas mileage. I just keep filling it up.

If I was concerned about gas mileage I’d be driving a LS 460 or ES 350.

I agree with you on that, just no cash for another vehicle still being in school so i gotta do what i can. My ideal commuter would be a 98-00 LS400, big floaty ride with v8 power but still 22+mpg on the road.

Spacing between the side tubes is ~2", plenty big for fingers. At its lowest clearence - above the rear doors for my install - the body clearence is not enough for my thumb, but I installed the rack to be as low as possible. Looking at my towers I have room to adjust the whole thing up at least 1/2" higher if I wanted too. I'd say it's not really an issue with the rack, just how you install it.

The handrail/EXPO on the Gamiviti is my favorite feature! I can scramble all over the truck using those which is fantastic! Best rack I've ever owned.
