Let’s see those aftermarket Roof Racks

Since we’re on the topic of aftermarket roof racks, I’m trying to find the suitable one to the setup I’m planning for on the LX, this: Dual side-by-side ARB AR40 on the front edge of the roof rack. The goal is to mount these in front rather on top of the roof rack to make the whole thing the lowest possible profile.

But looking at several photos here, I haven’t really seen a roof rack that went near or at the edge of the front end of the roof.

The FrontRunner Slimline2 is the one I think closest to the front end

Even the ARB full aluminum roof racks isn’t close to the front end (near or above the windshield) or I may be wrong. Any ideas is greatly appreciated or who has done this same or similar setup.

Look at a single row 50" or 42"light bar- to mount underneath the front leading edge. If you have 2.5" of clearance available you can fit a light bar under the front edge. I bought one of these this week: Armored Lighting

Thanks @abuck99 I will consider this. The closest rack I’ve seen is from trail tailor tubular rack and it extends up to near above the front windshield though I’m not sure if that model is in production looked like it is still under prototype stage.

The Gamiviti with integrated light bar would be right up your alley. Highly recommend. Has a clip on fairing so you can cover the LED light bar when not needed. I added 4 light cubes on top. But, you could easily just use the integrated light bar. Super low profile and stealth as heck. The lower "bar" below the light bar actually shields the hood from glare....super well thought out design.

They can if you flip the "expo" bars to face up or get one without the "expo" bars or lightbar dropdown. In the end, the Gamiviti are very low profile even with "expo" and lightbar. After 2 years of owning mine, I'll never own another rack. The lightbar dropdown is actually very cleverly engineered so that it creates a "shield" of sorts blocking the light from the lightbar cascading across your hood.

What trailer is this @geanes

What trailer is this @geanes

That's a Morris Mule knock off on Timbren axle-less suspension with a Harbor Freight tongue box, 4 Harbor Freight trailer jacks (1 in each corner), Smittybilt XL Tent and an ARB 2500 awning.

I have a Gobi stealth with a ladder and love it. I run around on the roof all the time, tying down everything from camp wood to kayaks.

Since I never have help loading kayaks, and I'm only 5'6", it makes a big difference that I can climb up on the roof and lash them down.

I like that the Gobi curves with the roofline. Very few racks do that. And I really like how Yakima stuff attaches to it.

However, Gobi sued a guy over on the T4R forum for "copying" their design. They also were totally full of s*** when they said I wouldn't have to remove my spoiler and then wouldn't return my calls when I told them they actually had no idea what they were talking about.

So dont buy a Gobi. Buy the new @benc rack.

Good lord, those welds look rough. Looks like some kid got put on a mig welder and told to just make it stick.

Seeking advice for a newbie 100 owner:
Is there such a thing as a “budget” each solution? I love all these, and probably will go that direction one day, but I’m looking for options that are slightly more affordable :)

Looks great, how did you mount the boxes up there? Do you generally just make your own brackets for the dissent rack?
I use eye bolts in the sides of the cross bars as anchor points and strap things down. For those cases, i installed footman loops on them and ran some webbing straps through to the eye bolts. It keeps them in place but still easy to remove without having to open them and take out the contents.
