How do you tell the left hub from the right hub? I am doing a disk brake conversion on my 75 FJ40 using hubs and knuckles from an 84 mini truck. In cleaning they got mixed up. According to Guppies mini truck disk brake conversion writeup there is a left and right. How do you tell them apart?
OK, Dumb question. I figured it out that they will only fit on the correct knuckle.DUH! should have went and matched them up before asking this dumb question.

Hub?

As in wheel bearing hub? The piece that attaches to the spindle, with the wheel studs?

Easy. The brake disc caliper goes towards the rear of the truck. They only fit one way once you make sure the calipers are towards the rear.

There are not left and right wheel bearing hubs...they will not know the difference...if you do not tell them.

Dumb question

I admit this was a dumb question, I was reading guppies post on mini-truck brake converstion where he stated to make sure you get the correct spindle on the correct knuckle. Then I thought how do you tell the difference. DUH!
they will only fit one way.:bang:

I did call it a hub instead of spindle, sorry for the confusion.
Actually, I found that the knuckles are marked (cast into) L and R and for us dummies that is Left and Right. LOL

but as always thanks for the help.
this is a great site and full of great information and even better people.
