Glad I looked on the 80 page today. Email sent. I am sure there are a lot of 60 owners that would like to know this is comming to an end.

Thanks again!

Hey George - Since you're getting out of the business, is there any possiblility of posting the schematics and parts list for those of us who might have a try at rolling our own. Or is it not that simple?

In any case, you got my order yesterday for 2 - one for the cargo area dome I expect to put in, and one spare!

I will continue to make the drivers, just not assembling the dome modules.

The driver is a CC1W. So, to make a 'dome' module would require 1 x CC1W, 1 x 1W LED on Star base, 2 lengths of teflon (my preference) coated wire, some Arctic Alumina thermal epoxy and a brass tab from which 2 pointy tabs are cut with a pair of tinsnips. Then some soldering and one dome module is complete. Takes more than a few minutes to do :)

cheers,
george.

George - great marketing tool - saying you are stopping - hmmm - Going out of business posted on the front an new product coming in the back. :D

Glad I have dome and map already - they are great!!!

I know that you are joking about the marketing thing :)

But just to be clear to other folk that may be wondering what's up.

I had ordered 50 LEDs (a few weeks ago) and was down to 41 (none now) and figured I should warn folk ahead of time that this was it. Of course a mad rush started and I figured it really wasn't fair to just cut off at the last 41 versus picking a cut off day. So, I decided to just call tonight the deadline for ordering and I would just have to make as many as needed, even though that meant ordering more LEDs.

The drivers is what I make/sell these days and those I will continue to do. So, to make a dome module all that I require in addition to the drivers I already make is to order LEDs and then do all the assembling stuff. It's the assembling stuff that just takes too much time to justify and that's why I am getting out of the dome module 'hobby'.

Nothing stops folk from building their own if they can order LEDs, thermal epoxy and do the necessary soldering/epoxying and cutting out the brass tabs etc. Same with the maplight module, it uses a CC1W, 2 x 1W LEDs, some wire, a bulb that has been 'broken and gutted' and wires soldered in to make a 'plug' to go into the bayonet fixture inside the maplight housing and an aluminium plate bent in the right way. Again, too much labour.

cheers,
george.

Is it pretty much plug and play, and does it have everything included to be a functioning light, or do you still have to purchase the LED's? I wasn't real sure from looking at the items listed on the site, of what to order.

TIA,
Rookie2

Yes - dry sarcastic sense of humor. Needed to use this ;)

New someone that owned a furniture store once. Really was wanting to go out of business and advertised it, put signs up in the window, whole nine yards. He stayed in business for over one year bringing in product at night to keep up with sales occuring during the day while he was 'going out of business'. Best year of sales and profits he ever had!

You truely have one of the best upgrades I've ever put on the cruiser George. Best of luck!

George, email & order sent for two. PayPal right behind. And thanks for the heads-up.

John

Hah. We had a furnature store here that did the same thing. Must have gone out of business at least 4 or 5 times. Just switched names between going out of business sales so it looked like they got bought by someone.

I think folks finally caught on, because they really are out of business now.

You've seen Zohan right?

"Going out of Business can I help you?"

Regardless - another bump for a fantistic product and congrats to those that grab these before they are gone!!!

I'm not seeing the listing for the door module. Has it already been taken off? Can anyone else verify if it's still listed?

Edit: Got it. Thanks George.

Paypal for 2 dome modules. Thanks George:)

Ok, there's definitely been a mad rush of procrastinators ordering modules the last couple of days.

I will finish accepting orders tomorrow morning when I get up, whatever emails I have in my inbox requesting ordering/payment info etc I will accept and any incoming requests after that I will not. I'm usually processing emails by 8am California time for those that like leaving things to the last minute :)

I'm really boggled (but not surprised) how many folk rushed to order domes when they found I would no longer be making them. Definitely speaks of human nature and I can now fully appreciate the stores you see advertising their "going out of business sale" - it really does work in drumming up business if that is your intention.

Obviously my intention here was to just stop making these modules and give folk a last chance to get some. All I can say is that I'll be busy the rest of this week making a LOT more modules than I planned. I've had to order more LEDs (ordered some this morning and again another batch tonight).

Anyhow, thanks very much for the orders and the kind emails and comments in this thread (and on the 60's forum).

cheers,
george.
