Is this little hole on the manifold under the carb going to be a big issue?

No.
The exhaust downpipe has (3) studs, that hole is right above one of them.
This is on my bench, the other two 2F engines I have are the same.

Used carb insulator plate came today. I cleaned it up and soaked the bottom gasket in pb blaster. I think the gasket looks good. Is there anything else I should apply between the insulator plate and the manifold? Fuel resistant gasket maker? (29132)

I've done a lot of reading and there's a lot of info to take in leaving me a touch apprehensive.

This is fun. Hopefully that translates to progress.

I have some stubby wrenches coming in the mail tomorrow so I can get her bolted down before the 4th of July.

Next I'm going to make sure the distributer is in order before seeing if the old gal is going to fire up or not.

Do I need to add a relay to the distributor power supply? It's connected through the 12v connection for the igniter from the original distributer setup. It works great the way it's setup but I don't know if that will bleed the battery or something like that?
