I have a new-to-me 105 that had its 1HZ swapped for a 1HD-FT. I'm still learning the engine, so I had a few questions. First, I noticed the engine air filter housing developed a crack. For the time being, I patched it with silicon. When I look for a replacement, will the parts be for the original 1HZ-equipped 105 or do I need to look at a 1HD-FT-equipped vehicle's parts diagram?

My second question is more general. My mechanic and a buddy who knows more about Cruisers than I do flagged two things as "unoriginal" that might need attention. I wanted to run them past some more experienced folks. Do I need to replace/tweak anything?

The first is the newer-looking bracket that associated with the throttle.

The second is the air intake on the turbo.

For the air cleaner I would expect replacement from a HDJ100 with a turbo will work. There could be a part # on it, which would be the best way.

Unsure why they would have added that bracket. I would disconnect that spring and then check the throttle linkage by hand.

That cross over pipe doesn't look stock... but is there something actually wrong with it??? you could try sourcing a cross over pipe from an 1HDFT or replace that steel elbow with a single piece of silicon from turbo to crossover pipe.

Thanks for the response. I'll have to take a closer look for a part number.

I'm not sure either. I did have to adjust the throttle, because it was idling so low. Do you know of a picture or diagram that shows what stock looks like? I'm having a hard time picturing it from the partsouq diagrams.

No, not that I'm aware of. The mechanic who's been mentoring me is a believer in using as much factory Toyota parts as possible.

doube check the fuel line. Supply needs to be at least 13mm. if you have the dual fuel tank options. you will also need to upgrade the solenoid valve for changing fuel tanks. You might starve the fuel pump under load.

All the other parts are cosmetics. better to fix it but I don't think it will effect the operation.

I'll look into the fuel lines. I do have duel fuel tanks. Could you talk me through what I need in terms of the solenoid valve?
