Hi everyone,

Im looking for a bit of help. The LX 570 is experiencing a leak in the underbody at the back on rear driver side. Leak is starting from above(vertical) the muffler.

Here are a couple of pictures. Could someone tell me what this leak is? The colour of the liquid is pink ish.

Oh and I just had my radiator replaced due to a crack, and coolant replaced

Probably the valley pan (heat exchanger).

Not the valley plate, that's a line for the rear heater.

If you are lucky you can just replace the rubber section (either 87245-60C30 or 87245-60C40 plus a 96134-52100 and 96136-52501 clamp for each hose) but with your corrosion I wonder if the underlying aluminum pipe is healthy too. The rubber definitely looks degraded though.

Thanks Bloc. Stupid question, and I've been trying to research this all day. Can I keep driving the lx with this kind of coolant leak or should I stop?

Monitor your coolant levels and as long as they don’t get low you won’t hurt the engine.

The “problem” is based on the condition of that hose (so swollen) it is compromised and could let go all at once, dumping all of your coolant, and that often results in overheating the engine which will almost always damage it.

So, driving it a few miles to the shop to get fixed? Sure, just make sure the fluid isn’t low first and watch your temp gauge like a hawk.

I wouldn’t do much more driving than that.

I think it depends on what you mean by "keep driving". It needs to be fixed and the sooner the better. But so long as you keep track of the coolant level in the expansion tank, IMHO it's ok to drive it around town for a few days. The risk is a complete failure and loss of all coolant, so don't put it off too long. Others on here will know whether there is circulation in that line with the rear heat off.

I see Bloc beat me to it. What he said.......
