Right before I sold the sequoia I did a road trip to Vermont and back about 8 hours each way. I averaged about 16mpg on mostly highway or backroads going about 70-75mph on the highway sections. Around town the computer is usually around 12. That is with 33x11 AT tires. We haven't burned through a tank yet in the new truck but when I drove home from the dealer (2 hour drive mixed roads) I was seeing 18-19 mpg.

I don't believe that you are getting 17-18 mpg with 33" AT tires unless you do no city driving and you keep your highway driving at about 65 mpg. I'm sorry, but I don't believe you.
The Destination AT2 has superb rolling resistance, similar to the stock tires on the HE, just a bit heavier, and the width is I believe a fraction of an inch narrower than stock. Width, weight, and rolling resistance are far bigger factors when you're only gaining an inch or so of tire height. Again, your truck is heavier and has a less aerodynamic front end, both of which are much bigger contributors to mpg than a slightly taller, narrow, light tire with excellent rolling resistance. And again, you get 1.5 mpg less than I do, which is pretty much right on the money, in terms of supporting my mpg with a lighter curb weight and more aerodynamic front end. So you don't have to believe me... because your truck clearly does.

Seems nobody is really totally happy with what they are getting with the 250. Compared to my 2019 Tundra on Toyo AT 35s (measured 33.5) that got 7-8 mpgs when towing, and best ever tank on the way to trade it in (back on stock rubber) at 14, the 250 on 275/70s is doing fine. We are just at 1,000 miles now, and I hope to see upper teens on the highway. I don’t really do city driving. Towing our 3,000 lb Airstream will be an interesting test, but won’t happen until September. I’m honestly not even really watching mpgs on the 250 at this point. I guess I should track a tank just for future reference.

I was to ever get a 250, I don’t think I’d ever up the tire size. The MPG is not as good as advertised and a consistent complaint I hear is the tank size is too small. Are you gonna get a aftermarket fuel tank? I’d love to hear your experience towing with your rig.

And for what it's worth guys, yes, I do almost exclusively highway/long country roads with no stop signs/lights, where you can do 55-65... and I do drive mindfully.
1 inch tire size larger than stock and a heavier tire have a much bigger impact than you’re letting on… but I do believe you now. You’re going 60 MPH dude!

Odd hobby to so meticulously track, calculate and record MPG when there’s not much one can actually do about it. Everyone already knows how to drive to slightly up the numbers and that certain things make it worse. Everyone already knew it’s general range before buying. Everyone also has a handy gauge telling them when to get more when it’s needed.

Well, only slightly heavier... 1" taller, but a fraction narrower than stock. I wasn't looking to add 30-50lbs a wheel, lol. And yeah, 60mph will do me. I reckon I'm not in much of a hurry...

I would never drive one of these things stock, but I use it off pavement daily. With the 275/70s and 2” lift, it is perfect. Still totally civilized, but capable. I scrolled through to the mileage screen and it showed 18 mpg for this tank, which is actually pretty good. It’s been a total mix of town trips (10 miles of two lane highway), in town errands, and offroad. I only have about 1,100 total miles on it so far, so I’m far from broken in.

I did tow our 3,500 lb travel trailer a bit yesterday, and it definitely has the jam to pull it. I think it will do fine, but will probably use a fair bit of battery power on the hills. I will update here as we go. I have a 5 hour mountain highway trip to do on Tuesday and will reset the “lie-o-meter” beforehand and see what it says.

Stock LC 250. 1119 total miles at the time of this post.
260 mile road trip mostly flat interstate. 80mph +\-.
Did run it up to 95+ a few times but not for long duration. 21mpg.

Which tires came stock on your 250? I’d have to dig mine out to check, but I think they are Yokohama. They are so ridiculous to spec on these rigs. They are not even M+S rated all-seasons. In fact, from Oct 31 to March 31, they are, in fact, illegal to run on the truck where I live and where we bought our 250. I’m not sure what the weight difference is per tire, but I’m know sure I’m not going to end up stranded or dead because of the crap Toyota installed. All the stock tires are good for is keeping the wheels from touching the ground until you can gingerly make your way to the tire shop.

I just ran mine 3 miles past zero. When it hits zero, the display reads refuel and I still had one bar on the fuel gauge. I filled it up to the very top and could only get 18 gallons in it. My average mpg was 19.6 and with a total fill up the range was 299 miles

With the premium fuel requirement, perhaps a better measurement, for those thinking about buying, would be $ per mile.

I use a free app (iPhone) called Fuelly. It keeps track of a lot of different metrics. Obviously only as good as the information you put in. The "Last MPG" is typically pretty close to what the gauge on the dash says.
I alternate between premium, middle and regular fuel. With over 5,500 tracked, I am averaging 20.8 MPG and $0.175 per mile.
