Hi All,

I have a gremlin in my LC200 VX V8 2013 and it is baffling the dealers as well so I hope that maybe the knowledge base may have an answer?

I will start with the basics, though they may or may not be related.

We returned from a trip to the Kalahari and the cruiser performed magnificently. It was hot as hell up there. On the way back i felt that the idling was a little rough on the V8 Diesel so I checked it into Toyota to plug their computer in and possibly check if the fuel was dirty.

Toyota phoned, they could not pick up any faults in the computer and said that the fuel was fine, no problems, come an collect your vehicle.

Went to collect the vehicle and this is when I noticed the first problem. The radio did not have any sound? Turned the volume up to full, down again, restarted, rebooted etc 45 minutes later at the dealership the sound started and we all thought the problem has been solved?

Carry on with life. A few days later we were driving and suddenly the Hazard warning lights started flashing, checked the switches etc and they would not go off. Disconnected both batteries and they switched off. Left the batteries off for 30 mins and reconnected and the hazards had stopped.

Started the vehicle and drove off and the lights started flashing again?

The vehicle was in the dealer for 5 days this week and when i collected it the lights were off, however 20 kms down the road they start flashing again.

Toyota are baffled and so am I.

Is there any light at the end of the tunnel that is not flashing?

I would check the grounds. Sounds like something may have been jarred loose. Same with the connectors in the back of the unit.

I agree.

Also, could it be moisture related? Do any river crossings or drive I any heavy rain?

I think the problem is more heat related and not moisture. The reason I am leaning this way is that the Kalahari was hot +/- 45 every day, and the problem reappears when the ambient temps rise? We have had all the dash unit out to check the connections and they all seemed fine?

I have had relays be effected by extreme heat. I also had a similar problem when I used too small of a gauge of wire in tandem with the heat and a relay that was not adequate for the part that needed power. (fuel pump) I am not saying this is your problem just digging up what I've experienced.

In the UAE we have similar heat during the summer months, tops out at 50c with high humidity, seems like a wiring or relay issue but have theu checked your wiring loom is intact? No damage from rats. If all the relays and wiring is fine if possible try to get the ecu swapped
