Hey all,

My LC200 has 50k on the clock and I'm thinking about performing a mini strip-down to clean out some of the carbon deposits.

After I've done this I will want to stop them accumulating again, so my questions are:

1) Blocking the EGR - How to? / does the car need a box of tricks to avoid CEL?
2) Venting the PCV to atmosphere - Does the PCV need to be connected to the intake to 'suck' the blow-by oil out, or will the turbos do this for me? Should I use a catch can, or just dump it?
3) Is DPF removal possible/worthwhile?

TIA

- EGR can be 100% blocked, there's a couple of ways around it, both involve software, some include a full blanking plate as well.
- Catch cans are a good idea, lots of people are using one
- DPF can be removed, but again needs software
Where abouts are you?

I'm in the UK which seems to make finding stuff for this Cruiser pretty hard!

I'd ideally like to go for a full blanking plate over the EGR, but I havent found a UK company that can re-program the ECU yet.

Is there any particular catch can to go for?

Unichip Australia do a full EGR blanking kit which may be possible to source and fit up, although it usually comes with a tuning package, not sure if it can be used by itself. There is another local bloke who does EGR delete software, along with upgrades for the gearbox and TC lock-up, with a few other companies here now offering ECU flashing, seems you are in the wrong country to own a diesel.
A lot of people here run the "provent" catch can, there's others around as well. Try www.asgard-engineering.com, they have them with a full fitting kit for the 200

Yeah, the 4.5L Cruiser is really rare over here in the UK. I wonder if I could ship off my ECU to one of the companies you mentioned, have it flashed and sent back to me. Is the gearbox/TC software part of the main ECU do you know?

I think so, I'll find out what I can for you
