Thursday if I find a Site

David when are you planning on coming. If it's friday I can ask the office when I get down on Thursday. Or we all can.

I was planning for Thursday. I did find a CG back on St Helena Is bout ten miles back though.

That sucks the State does not allow first come first serve anymore. Seems like they would be loosing money if everyone booked a two or three day weekend shutting others out of staying longer. But, then again, who says we have to run a State like a business?

If nothing comes through, I may board the dogs and come sleep on the ground.

I read your post Marshall on my phone and interpreted it to mean the 80 broke down. My bad.

I have my poles, and my print out showing my shrimp permit. The tags should come in, but just in case bring yours. I do have a net, but wasn't planning on bringing it because I didn't want to have to throw it. I am taking my small 5' bait net and minnow trap though. I also have a big shrimp basket too. Like I said I have bait for the surf fishing and will p/u the shrimp mix. Do you have a pole I can use for the surf or do I need to buy one?

Jeremy

Yes I have a pole for you. I cannot find the pvc that goes in the sand though.

no problems with gas here in Charleston area.....prices are dropping still...regular i saw this morning at couple places for 3.62 per gallon....no lines and no shortages around here.....from what I can tell it is only up in Charlotte area that it is bad and maybe asheville...but lowcountry is cool.

how about it beaufort?

Marshall, I should be able to get shrimp off the boat for $3.00 a lb.(heads on) I'll check tomorrow and let you know for sure. They are mixed sizes, but plenty big for eating.
As far as oysters, they should be available, but I don't eat them until it (the water) gets much colder.

I am signed up, and paid for,,,

I have been posting on the wrong thread,,,,, anyway, I am really excited about this trip, cant wait.

what kinds of fish are we talking about, redfish, trout, snapper, grouper?

I am bringing firewood, and a propane deep fryer with a basket, some hotel pans, bowls, spoons, tongs.
lanterns,
coleman stove and sautee pans
grill grate
some spices for steaks, and shrimp, lemons, salt, pepper
at least one surf rod with pvc, and a boat rod,, if I can get on someones boat for a fishing trip
I also have a sand flee catcher, and bring a few bags of frozen squid, it is supposed to make great bait for night fishing

fyi... the overpriced gas station I pass on the way to work was $3.51 a gallon this morning.

I do not know of any other camp sites, there was one at the station creek boat landing on St. helena... and I think there is one in frogmore "tuc in de woods road" but I'm not sure if that is a live in your camper or a visit in your camper site.

I might make it over to visit on Saturday, everything depends on the wife's mood.

She stays home and watches the babies during the week. It's my turn to watch the babies on the weekend. That usually kills all and any plans I attempt to make. :D

I remember my wife not asking me to do that anymore after one weekend with my oldest daughter was less than 18mos old (now 23) strapped in her car seat in back of my lifted Jeep with 33s on it.....and off we went on Eglin Reservation to old rail road tracks and washouts that looked like moonscape...hahahahahha.

All was good until wife saw mud on Jeep and asked how I kept her head from bouncing around......I told her I put a rubber band for big boxes across her forehead....I didnt really but she did not think it amusing. LOL

Well so far I'm having a crappy day. Woke up to Josie having a 101.6 temp. Becca is taking her to the Dr. Then I took my wifes car to work so I could drop it off to be serviced before the trip. Stoped for gas and then noticed her tire was running flat. She was supposed to have fixed that a week ago. SO I went to put air in it and managed to lock the keys in the car running. Called her to bring me a coat hanger. So now I've dropped the car off and driving dads car and have to go to the dr myself to try to get rid of this cough I have had for 4 weeks. Then he wants me to fill his car up and I need to go get a spare key made for her car since she lost the other spare. And to top it all off we found out this morning that the T-shirt company shorted us 10 xl shirts.

Good times. But I did get the boat last night and dig out and found a good cast net, 2 crab pots, my shrimping poles and all the other stuff I needed. Tonight I'll fill the foot up on the boat and crank it up and put the batteries on charge and pack for 3.

The shining light is knowing Chuck is coming and driving his 40 that has been sitting for 3 years. Granted it is in terrible shape but knowing he will have all his camping stuff with him and a camera to take pics of his adventure makes everything worth while. Also knowing there will be 20-30 people willing to help him out if something goes wrong.

not to add to your day.... make sure your cast net meets the hole size regulation. I do not remember the new minimum net hole size.

Thanks Beaufort, that relieves my (her) anxiety. Please post up if supplies dry up by Friday. If we can't get gas to get home we'll just come stay at your place until some gas comes in, right?
Oh wait . . . did you say baby? Nevermind, I'll just walk home pulling the FJC behind.

Somewhere on one of the forums in one of the threads someone posted a preferred route in to Hunting Island from points west. I can't find it. Could someone please review that? We'll be coming in late Friday night and from my Cola/HHead commuting days I remember that last stint from Orangeburg was inTERMinable.

OHH I am so ready to get my feet salty.

Marshall, I am going down to Magwoods here in Charleston this afternoon to help a friend p/u some shrimp and the prices are better here. 16/20 (large) shrimp is only $7.50 heads off. Nothing about a 100 lb. min. Or $5 heads on. You only save $25 per 50lbs. getting the heads but then you have to deal with taking the sob's off. I don't have any way to get them down there unless I bought a hitch carrier and cooler or unless you came through here on your way down. I could get them and meet you at my office in N. Charleston so you wouldn't have to drive all the way down to the water. If you want peel/eat or bacon wrapped I think we need the 16/20's.

Beaufort are not catching any large shrimp right now, so you might want to get them from here. LMK

Is anyone coming from Western NC? I dont think our route will take us by your meeting point- We are leaving thursday at about 7 or 8am- So if anyone wants to caravan let me know

I will be there Friday afternoon, and am bringing a turkey cooker with all of the baskets, a seine net, and several cast nets.
Also, a telescope if it is clear enough.

I can check the seafood markets here for oyster and blue prices.
Wasn't someone planning on bringing a bunch of steaks or something?
I will also try to round up some surf rods.

Jeremy...I can give you a place to drain your fryer oil!

This is going to be a great time!
