Replace the PHH (pesky heater hose) during the coolant flush

just search for PHH

YIKES!!!!

It seems that you have to ORDER the stuff to do that, and I am planning to start on the flush and fill in the next hour!!!

HELP!!!!!

This is obvioiusly the time to replace the PHH, but without the "special" stuff, I will have to use regular heater hose and clamps! What can I do???!?!?

You can use a standard 5/8 heater hose, Toyota did. It just seems better to upgrade the hose while you are doing the job as it is such a joy to do. The hose is straight and 50mm long.

Well, what a day!!!! If the "initiation" in the LC clubs has anything to do with scraped up arms and knuckles, I'M IN!!!!!!

Got the oil changed (stayed with dino for now - Castrol GTX), new plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor, belts, idler pulley, PCV and grommet, checked the compression. Checked all the cables and hoses. Also replaced the right rear bumper end (PO seemed to like running into things - all 4 corners are scraped, but this one was crunched).

Feels like I did MUCH more than that as I am having trouble even typing this.

Still debating on the radiator, brake, PS and tranny stuff. May have that done at the dealer (or somewhere) since the little bit above took me just about all day. I will definitely do the diffs and transfer case as I do want synthetic in there (Red Line probably).

The good news out of all of this is that the plugs coming out looked just like they were supposed to. None were oily or wet. And the compression on ALL of the cylinders was 160-165. FSM says new should be 171 or there abouts, So I think this engine is STRONG and running right. It has a lot more mileage in it, if I just take care of it!!!

Ok, off to bed. I am too used to my desk job for these days off that are harder than the days I get paid for!!!!! (Yes, I'm whining.....)

Thanks to all for the good (GREAT!) info. I will do more of the work above over the next week or two. Now I need to research more on susspension and the front axle and birf stuff.

>> I had forgotten already that I had done that <<
