I have been on this board for years and have posted very infrequently.

I have had an issue for the past 18 months that nobody can seem to solve.

I have checked through the forum and have not found anything. If there is an existing thread, my apologies for creating a new thread.

I have a 2001 Land Cruiser with 202,000 miles. For about the past 18 months, when I go out to start the car at any point in time, the car will not start. It will turn over without any problems but just not start. After about thirty minutes to an hour, the car will start when started like nothing has happened. This has happened about six to eight times over the past 18 months. I have not been able to replicate the issue for my mechanic and the car does not show any error codes. As a result, we have not been able to fix the issue.

This happens once every couple of months and then not happen again for the next several months.

Has anybody experienced this or does anybody have any ideas what may be causing this?

Thank you for your responses.

Thanks guys for giving this issue a name. I am reading the other threads now. I just didn't know what to look for.

Similar issue on FJ62. On that vehicle there's a connector(feeds fuel pump) residing in the left rear lower quarter panel that gets rusty/flakey after 100 years. Pretty sure 80 series has simlar connector.

try the "tap on the relay" fix... next time this happens open your hood... open the fuse box.... with the handle side of a screwdriver tap on the relay that controls the fuel injection.... or just give them all a good tap then try to start your LX if this fixes your problem read what I & others have posted on this subject... I fixed mine before I found this board... so you are already way ahead
