That freeze frame pretty much sums them up. Overall I watch their stuff as a "love to hate" kinda thing, but I can't hate too much since their garage and mine both have a 200 and a Tesla Model 3. They make quite a few mistakes and misstatements, but a lot more people are learning about the 200 as a result (which can be just as bad as it is good). It will be interesting to see what their "TRD Pro 200" conversion looks like. Kinda dumb they bought a grey 200 just to wrap it in white of all colors, but whatever!

Saw a pic of their “TRD Pro” LC, looks like BBS wheels, A/T tires, snorkel and a mild lift. About what you might expect Toyota would release as a TRD Pro for LC200. I’m guessing the white wrap was to make the truck pop more in video...

Can't do anything these days without someone bashin it.... They're obviously just regular non-LC/non-offroad guys trying to make a video that people will watch so they can make a living. It's fine for what it is... simple entertainment. And actually there is so little stuff out there on LC's that I enjoyed watching it just for that fact... didn't expect to learn any technical info from it but it was entertaining.

The problem is people new to this type of vehicle are soaking up technical info.. and if they do it through videos like this, some of it is incorrect.

I have no problem with entertaining videos and these guys making a living, but I feel they have a responsibility to do at least a little research to verify what they are saying as true.

I was about to reply with a post that said exactly what @bloc just did. The general public knows very little about the 200, so if they click on a video like this and take it as gospel they will get bad info. Sure it's entertaining to watch, but much of what they say is either incorrect or very misleading in many of their videos not just this one. I don't care when they're reviewing a Jeep or Tesla when there are thousands of other people making videos about them, but when it's a 200 I would hope it's more accurate.

There's nothing noble about spreading misinformation on YouTube that generates views. They're awful.

I follow a few electronic repair YouTube channels just for jolly. My favorites are the ones where the 'host' fully admits they aren't an expert or may use improper terminology and are still learning themselves ('My Mate Vince' is great for this). The opposite being TFL where they piss on your face and say it's raining. Hubris.

I get your point, but these guys do this with just about every video they post. They know jack about any cars they talk about and seem to make very little effort to get informed before recording. They do all sorts of offroad comparisons, this vs. that, where one vehicle will have street tires and the other will have AT tires, without even mentioning it and then conclude B is better than A. They are just horrible. Somehow they still get access to vehicles to test, although this 200 they own.

Somehow they still get access to vehicles to test,

View count, that's how.

Part of why I won't watch most of their stuff (ike challenge being the exception because it is a mildly scientific comparison). Those limited spots for access to these vehicles should be rewarded to journalists doing good work, IMO.

i also subscribed Sarah, just to enjoy woman working on a vehicle.

TFL shoots video for a living, and of course, they judge the vehicle based on how much manufacturer is willing to offer.

I don't love the channel, and it kills me that they say the LC is Tundra based. The two share some general architecture and a few components but its otherwise bespoke. Perhaps they do research on these forums and they will correct their facts in future episodes?

I have to give them credit for giving more visibility to the cruiser. More importantly, getting out there and doing and showing stuff. Too many talk/opinion channels and too little doing. For that, I give them brownie points.

Maybe they think they own a Sequoia ???

One of the latest TFL video features a g wagon, JL rubicon and 4R trd pro. They said they brought the top of the line most capable vehicle from each manufacturer...just watch it for entertainment value.

Why are you guys being negative and defensive? Who cares what people think. The TFL guys bought an LC to test and play around with and are trying to make money doing what they love.

Heh, these posts help validate elitist stereotypes concerning rabid marque fans.

As for the 200 Land Cruiser being 'based' on the Tundra. Even if it was/is, what's the problem?

Actually, I get a kick out of these guys... They are 200 fans you can tell, after all they actually personally bought one for themselves... Ronan? the Dad went on a, overlanding adventure with the 200 gurus and really seems to be a 200 fan... It probably really pisses off their Jeep watchers, LOL...

They say their 200 is going to get a wrap job in white and they are getting TRD Pro wheels and a 2" lift... I'm looking forward to it since those are my eventual mods goals too... Although, they seem to be FOX shocks fans (sticking with Toyoda)... For now I'm still in the OME mod of thinking, but maybe they will change may mind...

Perfection is the enemy of good enough...

They are good enough...

For me...

Yeah this is where I'm coming from.... Why on Earth would an LC lover gripe about a couple regular guys that seem to like LC's using their own money to buy one, mod it out and then video the whole thing and let us watch it for free? So they don't have every single fact right, not like they're over there saying the LC is a piece of crap with no reliability... They just think it's related to a truck that is not related to. No harm. That mistake won't hurt the LC's image and won't cause someone to not buy one just cuz they heard on the interwebs it was based on the Tundra. And I've seen some of those videos where they do off road comparisons between vehicles with way different tires.. But they usually mention it and say that the reason is because they are just evaluating STOCK vehicles and if one truck comes with better tires from the factory then it's a bonus. Plus I guess most of these vehicles are loaned press vehicles which means they can't always change tires and everything else to make sure they're perfectly equal for the tests. I'd rather see a scientifically invalid test and draw my own conclusions than have no 200 videos to watch.
Heck I wish we had a dozen more content creators on YouTube making videos on our 200's whether the info is 100% technically correct or not, I'd rather have them than not have them. I sure don't have the time, money, talent, desire to make videos so I'm just glad someone else does...haha. (and yes I wish they were 100% correct all the time, but it's free and I'll watch them with the knowledge that they're not perfect).

It’s simple. Don’t state things as facts when 2 minutes of research can disprove them. If any of these guys are enthusiasts they know exactly where to go to get good information. They saw similarities between the cruiser and tundra and made an assumption, then stated it as fact.

I understand that they can’t go throwing mud tires on for all of their tests. But, tires make such a huge difference off-road that you can’t say, with a straight face, that any vehicle in the same category with ATs won a comparison against something else wearing street tires.

The tires won the competition.
