I'm installing a later model wiper motor in my 74 FJ40. I can only get the wipers to work on the second position and they don't park. Is there something that needs to be done to the wiring to make these items jive?
TIA

Got the wipers to work properly on low and high by switching the LW & LB at the motor (thanks Coolerman). The wipers still don't auto park.

How late a model of wiper motor?

I can't recall all the specifics, but bought one that would've had intermittent feature and it was wired differently, something to do with the constant hot and ability to return to stop.

Thanks for the response. I believe it's a 77 motor. P/n on the gear cover plate is 85110-90303.

Can I do that? My switch doesn't have the pigtail coming off it. The 74 harness plugs right in to the back of the switch. I looked at a later model switch and the wiring is different (more wires than my harness plug has).

Search here for the thread about the park circuit on the later model wiper motor. It talks about adjusting the "disk" that contains the contact traces the park switch uses. Also make sure your windshield frame is well grounded. The park circuit has to have a good ground to function.

That was it! I wasn't getting a good ground. I ran a ground wire from the wiper motor mounting screw to a good ground source behind the dash. Thanks so much!!

Is that the extent of it?

Don't know how late a model I wound up with, but only noted difference was the ground.

Tried everywhere it'd reach, and still won't park.

Will pin extend it back to the harness ground, if that's all that it needs to park correctly, otherwise, I'll get damn good at parking them manually.
