I own three 80-seriess but just bought my first 200-series. Rigs been lifted 2 inches and has stock, 18-inch wheels and tire size. I haven't received the truck yet ... still being transported. I would like to know the biggest tires I can run - even if just the overall tire height - and still fit full-size spare comfortably in underneath area. With the lift I am sure I can run larger tires but I don't yet want to install a full bumper system and/or tire carrier. Thanks. BTW, I did try to search old threads first :)

@BuckCruiser - I live in Louisville. Anyhow we have monthly cruiser club meet ups and you are more than you are welcome to join us. Look on the Kentucky clubhouse for date and times / updates. Anyhow most guys have fit close to a 34" with minor cutting of the front fender well plastics. Not sure if the spare fits though - I can tell you a 35" spare wont work - tried many ways - square peg - round hole. welcome to the 200's.

Can confirm a 34" spare fits (285/75R17)

33" tire fits w/o issues. 34" tire fits but expect some trimming. 35" tire can be made to "fit"

Thank you for your response. I want to run the largest tire I can that will still fit in the spare tire area. Once I get a bumper system in a spare tire carrier then all bets are off and I'll run something bigger :). I didn't know there was a local club and I will certainly look into it. I'm assuming all series of Cruiser are welcome?

yes sir - good group of guys and girls - you will be disappointed though once you get your 33-34's mounted and park next to my rig.

I can verify this is true:)

This 200 series is going to start off as the family Cruiser. I know my wife would prefer the vehicle be entirely stock... but that's too bad. I need to, unfortunately, sell one of my 80 series to make room. In a few years I will switch her to a used 2020 BMW X7, once they get the kinks worked out, and then take this 200 series and build it out all around. Should be ready for big tires and a rear bumper system at that point. As an aside, I have taught my children to consider all SUVs - other than all Landcruiser series and Jeep Wranglers - to be nothing more than FAT station wagons. Because that's all they are.

295/70/18, bout as big as you can go in stock spare location.

I'll try to snap a picture of the wheel/tire exposure I the 11.50 inch width.

It survived moab with no issues, so a 12.50 should survive ok.

I didn't need to do a body mount chop to fit 34x11.5. I don't think you'll need to do one to fit 34x12.5. You will need to "reshape" or remove the metal bracket behind the mudflaps and the fender liner. You'll obviously need lower offset wheels.

Bringing this thread back from the dead (no Halloween puns intended).... can a 285/75/18 fit under there running stock 2016 wheels?

cheers

@34.8"? Negative.

34.3" is literally about the max with the panhard likely contacting at times. Perhaps deflated with a strap may make it possible?

In a very convoluted way that sounds like a pretty good idea, to drive around with a spare tire in a tidy spot, deflated to 20 psi, LOL. I mean, if you pop a tire on a trail, you are likely already aired down anyway, and if that helps you wedge that tire under there, could be genius

Anybody else done that?

I don't think 20psi will be sufficient. Maybe 3psi with a ratchet strap around the circumference?. Seriously at 18psi my tires barely deform with 7000# riding on them. Your round tires will stay round

Here's one of my on 18psi driving down black bear pass. As you can see the rear tire, which has >1500# on it, is still pretty round. Granted you're only trying to drop 1/2" so maybe the overall diameter will shrink as there's less pressure "stretching" the tire circumference...
