You could buy a chrome pair for a $100 and paint them yourself with some black satin trim paint.
I priced some at the dealer. They wanted $178 per mirror!
just a warning, the coolcruisers fj62 sytle mirrors are plastic and are very shaky when driving. I would get the aussie toyota (metal) mirrors. Sor sells the pair for $200 but they might be less elsewhere.
I purchased the non-electric fj62 mirrors from Cdan...HUGE improvement over the stock 60 mirrors. I can now adjust the mirrors to see while driving, and to also see when backing up. Being able to backup and see the ground alongside the truck is really useful. Worth the money...only drawback is that they are chrome, and I haven't had time to paint them black. Gonna happen soon though.
i had the ccot black mirrors. they were a big improvement, they were shaky but not so bad you couldnt see. the price seems right to me. you might try cruiser part.net and maybe get a pair of crome ones cheaper. also try car-part.com and get a pair off of a 62.
Yes, the overpriced "aussie" mirrors do have an internal tension adjustment for the 'lateral swing', haven't noticed an adj. for the tilt, and yes, they do get knocked around easily though if if it started to seriously bother me I'd try a judicious application of friction modifier(super glue or some such) on the pivoting sufaces.
i have the CCOT black 62 style mirrors. They are pretty decent, but don't have the best viewing angle adjustment. I figured it's due to my height, but ive heard others complain as well. And they definately buzz at speed. Not horrible, nice to have a bit more view, but not perfect by any means.
for the newer cruiser i got the "aussie" (yeah yeah - euro spec) mirrors. I think from MAF for 120ish ea. better than $OR @ 199ea. still expensive. They seem much more solid than both the tiny OEMs and definately than the plastic CCOTs.
I have a set of Aussie knock offs I purchased off ebay for like $60 for the set. They look just like the pic above. Metal construction. Mirror shakes a little in the enclosure but hugh improvement over US spec OEM. Convex mirror offers big field of sight.
