When I first got my 94, 13 years ago there were larger oil filters that don't seem to be around anymore. Anyone know the story behind that?

15600-41010's have been discontinued for awhile now. Global supply has been bought up/dried up.

Just use the $5 90915-YZZD3 and move on with life. :)

Baldwin B2-HPG should serve well.

Other wise the ZZD3. Is good so long as your not running 7k plus change intervals

I use these big cans

I just put the one you gave me like 8 years ago on my truck and I picked up another 8 or 9 from Rami when he sold his LX450. I also have a 90915-20002 on the shelf.

The -YZZD3 OE Toyota filter is just fine for extended replacement intervals. Have used these filters on both a 1GR-FE and 2UZJ-FE for 10-11K filter change rotations with synthetic 5W30 engine oil.

Thats fine you do you, a small paper media filter (even though its got way more media in it for its size than most) is perfectly good, I have one on my 1fzfe now (its what I had on hand at the time) with a group IV base stock synthetic in the sump and I still will change out at 5-7k miles. Smaller filter fills with chunges'ss faster hence why we all like to run the bigger filters. With the oil I run a simple filter change and top off when using the ZZD3 would likely be good enough for 3, 5k mile change intervals before a full drain.

Oil and fliters are cheap even if you use preminium s*** Vs a spun bearing!!!! I know some of us have had our rigs since new or near new, my current 80 is not one of those, I have no idea how well it was maintained for the 225k miles before I aquired it, so I use good consumables and change often.
