You ready to sell it back to me now? I really miss it. Hope it didn't do too much damage. I hope you are still enjoying it.

The same situation happened to my girlfriend a few years ago. A GX470 turned left in front of her and BAM, totaled it. The driver of the GX said he was on the phone and in a hurry to pull into the Hooters to meet friends. She was going about 40 when they hit. Bent our ARB, left front wing hit the quarter panel a little, very minor damage other than the bumper. No frame damage. I wish I had photos of it. I drove the 80 to the shop and the GX was a smoking, dripping 3 wheeled mangled mess.
People were in awe of the carnage and the little damage to the 80.

Still waiting for the other insurance company to assume liability. What a PITA.

Grib, its a great truck. I enjoy every drive. Thankfully there seems to be little damage except to the ARB and even that looks good.

Todd, Im pretty sure the chevy aveo was totalled too. Both of my friends who were with me during the accident were impressed by the condition of both vehicles.

If you get a new one out of the insurance claim id love to buy that one off you. I'm here in austin and in need of a bumper.

Arb ftw! Only damage was to the powdercoating!

PDX is gonna get to buy a Honda. Looks like ya shortened it up so ya can throw it in the back of the Cruiser in case ya need to run to the next town for Cruiser parts or fuel ;-)

Flow, what is the current status of your Cruiser, any real damage found? A good body shop might be able to straighten that ARB in situ with a frame puller. I bent one up a few years ago like that, just 3/8" on the end of the wing. It's damn near impossible to straighten it out yourself, I did more damage trying. $100 later at the body shop ya couldn't tell anything ever happened. They put some supports behind the whole wing, tied the truck down and pulled it at angles and forces I would never have been able to duplicate in my shop.

Good luck on the insurance deal, I think I'd tell them it knocked the mileage out of your 1FZ and you need a diesel replacement installed.

You rearend a guy and your raving about your ARB?:frown:

I hope it wasnt your fault. I also hope the baby wasnt in the car. I love my Binksfab bumper and how sturdy it is and the protection it now offers my cruiser but I fear the day that I rearend somebody and its my fault and someone gets injured.....let alone a baby.

The point was to share another example of what the bumper can withstand without major damage. Fortunately no one was hurt, and there was not a baby in the car. I wasn't involved in the accident, but I was very impressed with the lack of damage to the ARB bumper. Thank you for your concern though.

Thank you for help my :princess: understand why "we" need an ARB bumper. :princess: said let's add it to the budget and get one. If you are ever in Austin, is on me!

Warp, I will take you up on that . Happy to help out!

I finally got a call from the claims agent yesterday. They assumed liability and will be sending me a check for the quote made by the Caliber Collision.

Right now Im trying to decide where I want to take the truck to get looked at for a more detailed inspection. The first shop I took the truck to isnt properly equipped to diagnose and repair major stuff like steering parts. Whoever I take it to next will file a supplemental insurance claim if anything else is damaged. Anyone in the Houston area have a recommendation for a good toyota or offroad shop?

Also, when I called 4WheelParts yesterday to price another ARB, they told me that ARB is stopping production of the bullbar bumper. I thought this might be important info to someone.

Look up Javier's Autos Unlimited at 713-461-5595. He has done a bunch of work on LC's and Toyota's in general and seems to have a good reputation among people that have used him.

Edit: Javier is a mechanic, but might know where to point you for body work/estimates.

Got the truck back from Javier's Auto Body last night. The truck looks great with the shiny new ARB and runs even better. Javier gave it a tuneup, serviced the trans/diff/x-fer case and was looked over for any other damage besides the bumper. Everything looks good and now it just needs another trip to the beach. Pics to follow later today.

Looking so clean:cool:

I really took a risk when I gave the other driver the benefit of the doubt and decided not to call the police at the scene. He could have really made things difficult for me if he didnt admit liability to his insurance company. I feel like I was doing him a favor but if faced with another situation like this, I might choose differently. I would recommend extreme caution to others too if you have similar circumstances. Thankfully, things worked out well for me.

Thanks again for the advice, recommendations and kind words everyone.
