My husband was an avid cruiser and spent many many hours on this site so I thought it fitting to try and find a true cruiser lover to buy his truck. Bear with me as I can't speak automobile but he drove a 1990 Toyota Land cruiser HZJ73, white with removeable top but we never removed it. It is well loved and used but still in good condition we purchased it in Calgary AB where it was imported from Japan. I am having great difficulty getting anyone to give me an estimate as to how much it is worth. Please email me if you are interested and I will respond

First off I am sorry for your loss.
Secondly absolutely gorgeous rig. I am envious.
My advice would be to post the vin number if you do not know what motor or transmission it has. If you do know that info i would provide it.
I take it is right hand drive
Im not very good at the non US rigs but I believe it is a BJ73
i tried to run a search for some for sale... not many.
I found a couple '85 models for sale.

I am sure a northern guy will chime in and throw out some more advice.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

The value of the vehicle depends on many things. Mileage and condition being the primary factors. What it has for options (factory lockers etc) makes a difference too as the Japan vehicles had options available that weren't normally on North American trucks. Right hand drive is less valuable (substantially) than Left hand drive.

One would have to see the truck and go over any repair info and upgrades to give you an honest estimate of value.

Personally, I might be interested as I am currently looking for a diesel '70 series, though would prefer Left hand drive for my wife.

Might I ask what part of BC you are in, if not too far away I would be interested in looking at it.

Again, my condolences and best of luck with selling your truck.

I would love to take a look at this truck.. all of the above and the year it was built will make a huge difference (pre 1987 and you can sell to the USA) Try to find a plate with the frame number and take some pictures of the dash and shifters and we c an help you determine a fair price.

I am very sorry for your loss Ma'am.

To me that is a 15, 000 to 17,000 Land Cruiser

2.5" lift
OME anti inversion shackles
A good start

I'd assume she's correct about the HZ engine, as several of these made it to Canada from Japan. Anywhere from 9-25K are the prices I've seen for this model, so 15-17K sounds about right for an asking price. Good luck with the sale.

Considering that very nice left hand drive 70 didnt sell for 15k I would think that puts the price of this vehicle below that.... I am not a 7x series expert but I would love to have one, why do yall think its worth more than a very similar model with more accessories, a 12 volt electrical system and left hand drive that was unable to sell?

is it just because it has a 6cyl engine?

Prado where have you seen 7x series listed for 9k? I would be very interested in a left hand drive 7x in that price range if it wasn't completely ragged...

There is currently a LHD in Northern BC for 5k (asking) and one in Manitoba for 5k. Some rust, but not a bad fix and good mechanical. Both diesels as well. Both too far for me to go to see.

If the truck is as good as the limited pictures look, then I would say 10k asking is about tops for a RHD. Again, as I said before everything is dependant on options which aren't listed for us here.

The BJ engine was not installed into a JDM Land Cruiser after 1989 and in 1989 that would be a 3B II.

this is a 1990 so it would be either a HZ (6 cyl) or a PZ (5 cyl) since she stated a 1990 HZJ73 then it is a mid wheel base 6 cyl diesel with removable top. She doesn't post a location but the plates show that it is in BC.

The HZ engine gives it the value, a wonderful engine.

as for the value, mileage is important, auto or manual tranny will make a big difference, lockers make a huge difference. rust, if any. any maintenance records at all?

At one time a vehicle like this would fetch a very good dollar but in the last 2 years the value of Land Cruisers have plummeted. the only model still holding its value is the HZJ77.

If she wants to shoot me an email waynesmith2501@hughes.net i will go over the truck with her and give her a realistic value based on 6 years of importing and selling these trucks.

Way to step up Wayne. I agree with the pricing. Unless it has all of the bells and whistles and is truly rust free (in Canada?), then I'd say around 7K tops.

I say this mostly for the fact that even in Canada RHD is getting tougher, and as a 1990, importation is limited.

I did want to say I am very sorry for your loss and any way we can help here on mud, or in person, please let us know.

Bump for a good cause ;)

has anyone been able to get in touch with the owner? tried several times and no respnse.

hold your guns girl that truck is worth 7-8 grand in parts. easily worth the ten grand ,any day of the week, your asking price of 11 grand is totally doable and will sell in bc .these trucks are generally only sold in the usa for parts ,6-9 grand.if it was not for repect for your loss i personnaly would be trying to lowball you too..plain and simple anyone who knows landcruisers knows that hz is a 6 cyl. deisel. if that thing has locking diffs. you can add 2 grand on top of that (being all the other little extras that usually compliment that extra option)all that being said ,pm me if your going to flog it though .i live in vancouver.
