Does anyone know the current status of Land Cruisers Direct?

I've been trying to reach Steve (@SteveJackson) for a couple months via phone, VM, email, Mud PM, and the 'schedule a call' function on their site. No response yet, so I'm wondering the current status of LCD.

Thanks

Been there done that. Scheduled a time for a meeting and nothing. Literally nothing. Steve reached out weeks later and said “Sorry I missed you. I’ll check the schedule and set something up” and I never heard another word. Not. One. Word. Ever.

Sad. Not good and definitely not what I was expecting. Still nothing to this date months later.

I'm having the same experience, crickets for the last month after our first contact, he said he would get back to me in a few day. at first I just thought it was the holidays now I hope everything is alright with him !!!

Thank you being patient, I saw your letter in my mail tonight. Yes I apologize, I've been mostly out of touch the last couple months. With illness, personal family issues, and being husband to a nurse during these times and we've just been able to keep up with searches and existing projects. I'm sorry for being out of touch and I added a little present as a token apology for that delay. Thank you for your understanding!

I'm also wondering. He was doing some work on my truck, but have had radio silence since veterans days. Even ran by the shop. Hope all is well...

You know the story and thanks for your patience, glad we could get your truck fixed up and back on the road. We'll see ya soon for those injectors!

I do apologize, we have been blessed to be overwhelmed with inquiries, but unfortunately we don't have capacity to provide service to everyone. Admittedly we're better at finding the best cruisers than communicating (ask aforementioned wife).

Thank you for the kind thought, and sorry for the false start, we'd love to try connecting again sometime in the future if there's something we can do for your.

Same issue, a half dozen emails, two missed phone call ‘meetings’ he has a deposit from me. The hell is going on.

I do apologize we've been out of touch, we're still searching and buying trucks as we find them, yours is till out there! I'm catching up with existing customers this week. Thanks for being patient.

Land Cruisers Direct / LCD is definitely still in business! Most of the year has been crazy for our life and family and we appreciate everyone being so cool and supportive while we play catch up.

@SteveJackson - I appreciate the update and glad to hear everything appears to be ok. Thank you for responding

I set up another call booking that went unanswered. 🤷‍♂️

I setup 2x calls and never heard anything recently. while I sympathize with everybody during this crazy time they could at least update their website and disable the schedule a call feature, or even post a message saying hey we are not taking new business until further notice kind of thing?

the niche market is a hard place to be a customer.

I have only heard good things about their operation so it's very disappointing.

I have dealt with Steve Jackson and purchased a LC from him (my third one). He isn't kidding when he says he can find the best ones out there. I can't speak for his reasons for being slow to respond but he is well worth the wait if he can get you a cruiser.

I'm sure that's true, but if he's not answering the phone it's not much help. ;)

Zzzzzz

I know this has yet to catch up to a lot of people but the world has changed and land cruisers direct as it once was might be a thing of the past. For those of us who are looking for trucks today, essentially LCD does not exist.

time will tell and I 100% hope they can recover.

One thing that has changed is that there more people importing them. Steve was kind of a pioneer for cruiser importing as some of us know. Not all of them are good. If anything sets him above the others, I bet he has better and more established connections in Japan.

As I mentioned earlier, I bought my third one off of him and he was the easiest importer to deal with compared to the other two I dealt with. I do hope he is ok and that his business is as well.

I have worked with 2 different groups so far

the import guys Jdm Importer | United States | The Import Guys - https://www.theimportguys.com/ although I did not purchase thru them so I can't answer for that part they were really up front and easy to work with in terms of bidding on auction trucks. it's probably a good budget path with them but they don't have boots on the ground.

RightDrive Inc - https://www.rightdrive.ca/ is who I'm working with right now and they have an office in the tokyo so they have resources to physically check things out. I think I finally found my truck and am in the processes of securing it hopefully today or tomorrow. 35K USD for the truck, shipping, docs ... all that dirt cleaning... all the fees. I hope it's a really nice truck in good condition? you never can really tell unless you have somebody inspect it IMO. their tokyo agent told me it's one of the nicest trucks he has seen.

my fingers are x'ed excited to get it in my driveway in about ... god knows how long.

I'm just wanting to re-up this thread and ask if anybody has heard from @SteveJackson recently. I have been working with Steve for almost a year now. I got an 80 when I was living in Japan and he helped me bring it back when I came back this last summer. I was in regular contact with him until mid-Feb, and it has been radio silence since then. I am hoping that he is alright, and wondering if anyone here knows a good way to get in contact.
