I am new to AZ and my 1981 FJ40 needs a transfer case (split) rebuild, seals and bearings. Any recommendations on a qualified shop that knows these cases? I will need to take the vehicle, I can't pull the unit and just take that. I am in Tucson. It's a clean rust free rig. Gear oil is going from tranny to transfer and leaking out the idler shaft retainer.

Welcome to AZ! several of the guys in Tucson usually know good places. They should pipe up here shortly for you.

Nice 40 by the way!

Nice ride.. welcome to AZ.

Now you can get the last drivers license you will ever need.
Hey I have one already and it expires on my B Day in 2021. I'll only be 65 then dude! LOL!

I just talked to the guys at Lloyd's transmissions. I could tell by their lingo they have seen many a split case cruiser. The specialize in old school stuff, no auto trannys. I don't know anybody who has used them but the Desert Toyota service writer said that is where he recommends stuff, even over his own shop.

I can definitely vouch for Darrell and Lloyd @ Lloyds on Dodge. They a lot of work for me on my '81 40 and I have nothing but good things to say aout their work.

Thanks db2. Their shop is a mess but they sounded like they knew their stuff. Talked land cruisers for about an hour when I paid them a visit
