Anyone know if there are other ladder options for the 200 aside from the Gobi?

TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 200 LADDER· DRIVER SIDE | Gobi Racks

I'm not sure with their mounting if it will clear my Gamiviti rack. Anyone with a Gobi willing to take some measurements with the trunk open? I'd like whatever I get to work with Slee's new rear bumper as well (i.e. not interfere with the jerry can carrier), but probably going to be difficult to confirm that until he's officially finished :)

I'm expecting a Gobi ladder to arrive any day now and I also have the Gamiviti rack. So, I can probably help answer the "will it fit" question pretty soon. I'm also unsure about whether it will clear.

Slee rear bumper will feature a bumper-mounted ladder, so will work with any RR.

When the Slee is avail my ladder wiil be as well...... but I like the Gobi - solid unit and nicely built, plus the install is drill free......

Regardless of ladder selected, I'd recommend some 3M Clear Bra to place on the top surface of the rear spoiler. And, if going the Gobi route, do it *before* the install for cleaner and more complete coverage (unless you want to remove/reinstall).

Obviously you are not going to stand on the rear spoiler, but I found myself using it as a shelf to stage things like duffles, rotopax, etc. and have scratched it up pretty good. Not noticeable to most people, but if you have any OCD tendencies (I'm looking at you @Markuson !) you may want to add a few strips of 3M for peace of mind.

heehee... Actually, my OCD tendencies have a built-in loophole for scratch allowance, as they feel more like "battle wounds..." :)
Organizationally? I'm ridiculous when it comes to packing my vehicle (and drawers... Hoy cow!)...

Still...a #M Clear piece makes sense, and does no harm. Good idea. I should probably put some on anyway, since my Kayaks tend to slide on the spoiler when putting up/down.

My wish is that the spoiler was stronger, and more like a downward-slanted wing (more like the 80 series had) that blows dust off the back window, rather than its current form which doesn't do much for dust.

My Frontrunner rack is pretty far back, and I didn't have to adjust it for the Gobi ladder. If there's still daylight when I get out of work I'll measure and snap a couple pics. Here is a basic view though:

Don't have a tape measurer but hope these pics might help? Regardless, sounds like @indycole is going to know for certain soon.

Re: Slee's rear bumper - It looked like his prototype had the ladder as a fixed option and served as a dual purpose for the jerry can mounts. If I go that route (and I probably will), I am going to find another purpose for the Gobi ladder, i.e. craigslist or part of the tree house for the kid. Slee might do a custom build option for you and remove the ladder, but I'm not sure what's entailed with that...

feel free to just drop off that Gobi ladder at my house on your way to work ;)

Re Slee ladder:
I mentioned this in the Slee thread toward the end, but worth mentioning here...

**The Slee bumper update changes the ladder** from the original post version to one that looks more conventional/practical...with normal steps rather than foot holes. Quite substantial and looks great.

So when I had my Gobi (ladder and rack) installed a week ago Kevin had already given me the advice about Clear Mask. Gobi did the install and couldn't the mask as all they had was the tape they put under the wind fairing. So I took it to the guy who did my clear mask bra. They did it custom. Covered the top of the spoiler and for the lift painted part of the lift gate they started it just to the right of the ladder and ran it all the way to the left side (only one seam showing.)

Like Kevin, I learned very quickly that I was not going to be able to go up and down the ladder (which I have done a couple dozen times now) without my toes rubbing against the spoiler or the lift gate. With the mask - problem solved.

To get the mask to fit on the spoiler under the ladder he removed the ladder and reinstalled it. Took im all of five minutes. (He has a 4Runner with the same ladder and a DIY rack.)

I would add pictures and measurements but I think you have that covered. My pics would look exactly like Kevin's only with a white LC. ;)

BTW, I spend a lot of time last weekend up and down the ladder experimenting with various loading and securing configurations. And most of that time I was on my old knees. At the end of the day they were pretty sore. I know its not an issue for you young guys. But at 2' by 2' foam kneeling pad from the gardening section of Home Depot or Lowes or wherever I got it came in extremely handy. It is not a permanent part of my kit for the truck.

Don't know if this helps but here's my setup. This rack is huge so I'm sure you won't have any issue getting it to work.

Unfortunately I think my rack is slid further back than you guys.

I'll whip out the tape measure this evening but I have very little clearance between the rack and the spoiler. I will likely need to either move the rack forward or fab a ladder which uses a flat plate across the top instead of that 90 degree GOBI lip. Or just wait for Slee.

Does anyone know if Toyota ever made a factory ladder for the 200?

Previous series have had factory ladders, I have seen a few 100s with one like this one in Japan but have yet to see one on a 200.

I do like Slee's 100-series ladders. I've been so focused on ARB's options I'd forgotten about bumper-mounted ladders.

I hope @sleeoffroad comes up with a jerry can swing-out that mounts and works like the rotopax, but uses standard jerry cans. Otherwise trying to use the ladder will be a PITA

Definitely not enough clearance for a Gobi ladder. I hate to slide the rack any further forward since the first bar behind the sunroof already hangs about 2" over it. If there's no other permanent ladder mount option, looks like I'll be waiting for Slee.

Rather than starting a new thread I thought I’d post this here. Was wondering if anyone that was using a GOBI ladder for their 200 and has since added a rear bumper with integrated ladder might have one for sale. Thought about posting a WTB in the classifieds but thought this would receive more 200 specific visibility here.

We have a Gobi ladder currently installed and will be purchasing a rear bumper in the next few days. Unsure if the ladder will fit but if it doesn’t the ladder will be for sale mid April.
