Kordsman's Land Cruiser 200 Build:

iH8mud Members,

Thank you all so much for the insight and advice in advance. I hope this thread helps someone else as much as you all have helped me without even realizing. All of your experiences have made my planning - and hopefully execution - of aftermarket adds much smoother. Having read almost 35 pages of the forum's posts thus far, I realize this story is similar amongst members = My wife has made fun of how much time I've spent reading threads (often times from midnight to 2 am - seemingly the only free time I have). Sleep can wait until after the lift is installed.

I purchased my 2009 Super White Land Cruiser with Tan Interior in October of 2016. I was driving a Lexus GX470 2007 blizzard pearl with tan interior that I snagged in April of 2016. This vehicle was rated 4 Wheeler of the year two years in a row when it was released. I added some Tacoma TSS lift take off black wheels and BFG tires, tint, LED's and weather tech mats. Never got to lifting the GX due to stumbling into the cruiser and being wary of the airbags; however, it was a very powerful vehicle with great speed and acceleration on a small frame. A great vehicle that I miss from time to time, until I find myself looking back at the LC in my driveway.

First off, I work at a Toyota dealership, so you'll probably see some work performed in the shop as my build advances. One of our customers actually introduced me to the iH8MUD Website. More than thankful to have the hookup with several Toyota Certified Master technicians who enjoy doing jobs for cash on the side, along with having great attitudes toward their profession.

The Land Cruiser came in discretely for service. A gentleman with round rim glasses (Einstein style and curly white hair) steps out. He was asked to purchase a new one, and ended up purchasing a Black Land Cruiser I had added take off lift kit Tundra TSS wheels and BFG tires to. Picture below of both.

His upgrade allowed for me to upgrade (kind of like the Hermit Crab shell shuffle). He purchased the 2009 brand new from my dealership when I was in my senior year of high school and serviced every 5,000 miles in our service drive. It has 110,000 miles, never had anyone or any children ride in the back. The GX had that lived in "funk" that kids seem to manifest in vehicles (and maintain even after steaming and shampooing) lol so I was glad to move to a cleaner ride.

I was a salesman for a year after graduating college, finance manager for a year, and have been a sales manager for a little over a year. I coordinate a lot of lifted vehicles for our inventory. This responsibility, along with seeing so many old school Toyota's roll through the service drive in my 3 years here got me addicted to Toyota's rich history, dependability and usability. There is no better vehicle.

During this thread, you'll see a lot of the old school Yota's I see driving through the service drive. I hope you all enjoy the pictures!

KORDSMAN's To-Do's:

1) 2" Lift Kit - OME w/UCA Stock Load
- Ordered from Slee
- Not planning any bumper armor soon, although Tony P's is very attractive.
- No spacer, Slee didn't recommend it

2) TRD Pro Tundra 18" Wheels
- Found for a steal on CL yesterday

3) 275 / 70 / 18 BFG KO2's
- Measure a little over 33"

4) Prinsu Roof Rack
- ETA is almost 2 months or so
- Once installed, adding GOBI ladder

5) RTT (took me a few minutes to figure out this meant Roof Top Tent):
- Seems great for family camping trips

6) Slee or Other Sliders

7) Upgrade Recovery Points (Trail Tailor Red Tow Mounts, Skid Plates

8) ARB Spare Battery, onboard air, drawer system, potentially a fridge (Jesus, I feel like I need two jobs to afford this hobby).

ENJOY!

Yes, the white walls were out on the GX.

The Black 16 LC is what prompted Mr. Einstein to trade the 09 I purchased. Off to getting new shoes right away! Snagged the wheels and tires from a TSS Tundra we lifted.

Below you'll see some ballin' older FJ's. The purplish blue one is in immaculate condition.

Ok, I know one isn't a Toyota (I'll leave it up to you to figure out), but Hot Damn.

Also, love the aggressive armor on the Taco.

That's all my random pictures for now. Along with my actual personal vehicle build, I'll post the random customer vehicle.

Michael J Fox would be proud of the Red Taco

Tundra and GMC Doomsday devices

Land Cruising sitting pretty in the shade.

Neat pics, grats on your shell game winnings. On the RTT, it was natural for me to lean that way but after reading reviews from people that have had them it can be more of a pain than a benefit. All depends on your needs, but good luck either way!

I was at the 2018 Toyota Camry Launch Event in Little Rock today. Badass vehicle with outrageous styling, performance and appearance to go with the long established tradition of safety, reliability, quality and longevity.

I was close to purchasing the TRD Pro wheels from my dealership at employee cost (which is north of $380 per wheel and over $500 retail for a customer). There were none to be found on Craigslist or eBay for the last month almost. I decided to look randomly Thursday night before heading down to Central Arkansas and surprise, someone just posted a set with BFG tires only used 8,000 miles in Little Rock (which I will not be using since they're a little too small with a lift - PM if interested I'll provide the dimensions).

He met me at the Toyota event and I was ready to roll. Got back home 3 hours later and Slee delivered the goodies, along with Trail Tailor's recovery points.

Beyond excited to get to work tomorrow and get everything installed. Tires will be waiting there.

Tony, yes, they've been on ground for a few weeks. The first production allocation is only for 4 cyl LE and SE trim levels from Japan mostly; so the dealership hasn't gotten any badass trim levels yet (should within a week or so). Kentucky is currently employing all of the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) technology for manufacturing of the V6 and all others. The Camry is the first Toyota to be completely TNGA engineered. Some others have partial TNGA technology.

The Launch Event had several XSE V6 Camry's with every technology package available, which results in an MSRP of close to $40,000 or a bit over. It was nice to actually see the "Bad Boy" models before they arrive without knowing anything about them. We drove the Camrys, along with Accords and Altimas. The Camry seriously blows the competition out of the water in value to price relation, along with the drive. 8 speed transmission and much smoother ride over potholes. 1.9" lower roofline, same lowering in seat height...It's just a badass ride.

Launch event? The '18s have been on the lot for a few weeks haven't they? At least they were last week when I stopped by a dealer.

Ah ok. That makes sense. Yeah, after seeing the '18 at the dealer I'm a Camry fan. Those things are pretty damn nice. Or I'm just getting old.

A little delay for the install. My father in law passed away at a very young age on Monday night. May he Rest In Peace. Probably won't be back to work and have the lift done until Saturday or Monday.

Sorry to hear this, bless you and your wife.

Making some gains! Got the Prinsu roof rack on today. They sent the wrong size bolts, but luckily had a shop 15 mins away with black bolts, so they worked out better than the chrome ones they sent with the kit. Only $6 total cost for 18 bolts.

The install is easy if you make it easy. There are two bolts holding the factory rack and you have to loosen them a half turn alternating bolts so the plate doesn't fall off. I imagine it's a headache when the bottom plate falls down.

New wheels (TRD Pro Tundra 18") and tires are being mounted (275 / 70 / 18) BFG KO2's. The lift kit won't be installed until probably later today or Saturday, depending on what free time my mechanic Brian has. You can see him working hard to mount the new tires on the wheel haha.

Rack looks great -- what's the finish on those black bolts? If it's black oxide I would replace them with pure stainless steel as they can rust.

Finished, but one of the tie rods bent a little during installation. Won't be driveable until tomorrow evening once a new one is put on. $50 part, so not too bad of collateral damage. Looking forward to hitting the dirt roads and trails soon!
