I'm rebuilding the front knuckles on my '73 with drum brakes. The left was done without any issues. Working on the right however I've ran into a problem. The two bearings in the axle hub won't go back on the spindle? They are the same I took off. I cleaned and repacked the bearings but they won't slide back on. I can't figure out why? What am I missing?

Any advice or help would be appreciated .

Could be that they are at a bit out of a angle as your pushing them on, even though it looks straight. Keep messing with it, they should eventually go back on.

I solved the issues! There were to problems: the first was I failed to seat the new wool seal into it’s housing. That prevented the hub from sliding on the proper way. The rear seal was fine.

Second issue, during tear down and clean up I nicked the last thread on the spindle which prevented the front seal from sliding on!

Newbie mistakes for sure. At least it’s solved.

Good job sorting it out. Burrs can be hard to detect, cotton glove will snag to help you find them. A good strong light will reflect off them - but old eyes do not detect that as easily.

BFH is not usually a good solution, but there are times.
