Have you pulled the head yet?

You may have a valve seat (or two) that came loose in the head.

I did the lashings cold an checked compression an #5 an 6 are shot..so I'm pulln the motor an starting all over with everything new. bottom an top.

Skip the SBC and F and go for the 2F. The 2F is a much better engine, more hp, improved oiling system and better balanced. I just can't see spending 3k on an F rebuild or 5-10k on a SBC conversion when you can find a 2F that you may be able to drop in for much less. I hope everything works out what ever you decide to do.

thanks for the ideas guys.!! gonna get started an take pics along the way....I'm goin for a rebuild on my "F"....I figure why not just stay stock an put some life into a motor thats only got 123,000 on it...
