I was installing my Tesla android unit and I had everything working except the cameras. I watched a video on line where the authour identified the video cables but had to rewire it to a processing unit. Mine was supposed to be plug and play and it looked like the two video connectors would fit together in an unused connector. As soon as I did that the unit stopped working

wasnt sure if I blew the tesla unit or something in the vehicle so I put back the stock unit and it doesnt work either

I replaced the two AMP and 1 Radio fuse in the engine bay. I also replaced the Panel and ACC fuses in the drivers side interior

Still no dice. I will continue to troubleshoot using the stock unit

Appreciate any thoughts.

everything seems to work except no power to the head unit. Hazards, cig lighter dome light, moon roof all work

This is with putting the stock radio back in

Maybe try unplugging the battery for 15 minutes. Sorry, that sucks...

Thanks for the suggestion. No effect

When I turn on the lights, the switches on the headunit do not illuminate

Do you have Techstream? Any DTCs?

It sure sounds like a blown fuse. I won't attempt to guess at which one, because I have a '17 and may have different fuses/layouts, but keep checking fuses. If you have a meter, you can just check fuse continuity without putting in new fuses.

The lights not working is a good troubleshooting clue.

Try and find a wiring diagram that shows how those buttons are illuminated. If it uses the same rheostat-controlled signal sent to the other dash illumination it should be a ground issue, as I can’t see what you did cooking the illumination power to those lights. If it sends some signal to the head unit that it processes to control the lights itself, then yes, problem with the unit.

Its not the unit as I did this installing the Tesla and then went back to the stock radio

No codes with my OBD II reader

I have just replaced all the fuses I can think of

I believe there is a video processing unit and as I was dorking with the video cables it may have gone bad and might have a lockout to the power input to the head unit. Lot of mights as I dont have a clue

I have been going through the wiring diagram and so far nothing pops out as there is a lot there

I think I would try and find a wire diagram for the harness for the head unit and find which wires should be hot and use a light or multimeter and probe those wire and see if they have power or not. If not start probing fuses to see what is blown. Not sure if that helps or not.

Any updates Ken?

Alfred, its at Slee right now getting BP-51s, Slee Skids replacing the rear bumper with a Slee rear. If they have time they will look at it

@Romer, let me know if you need wiring diagrams

Ok, it was the Radio fuse in the passenger side fuse box. That dies it kills everything. There are many fuses for this unit spread across the three boxes. Now back to the Tesla install :)

The $40 question: Who gets credit for the diagnosis?

Christo. I had changed a slew of fuses in the underhood and drivers side fuse panel. This one was in the passenger panel and I guess the only one left

I can only imagine the relief that it was a simple fuse! I was holding my breath for you!
