Hey Mudders,

I have been collecting parts to be a partial engine dress up / refresh. My Kick Down aka Throttle Cable has its protective sheathing all torn up and dingy.

I know 35520-60140 has been NLA for a while. Will 35520-60111 or any other OEM cable work?

If not is there a source for a similar sheathing cover to the OEM one?

Thanks!

* For A 1996 FZJ80

35520-60111 is for A442F. I'd say your best option is to get 35520-60140 used from someone parting out in the classified section here.

I would guess that all the used ones are in the same condition as the one he has - functional but with the plastic cover peeling. Not sure how to go about re-freshing it.

Maybe some one has a source for the original white/gray sheeting that's the protective cover?

Forgot that the kick down cable had a different wrapping than the cruise control and throttle cable. It looks like it would be easier to re-finish than the other cables if you can find the correct tape/material. Hopefully someone knows what it is and where to get it.

I don't have any pictures but a piece of 1/2' shrink tube from an industrial electrical supply house was the perfect product. It was in 24" or 36" pieces IIRC..

Hi, Electrical shrink wrap on cruise cable also. Mike

Just picked up a 260k FZJ80 with broken kickdown cable, looking for replacement / repair options myself.

I thought to share Spector Offroad last week to confirmed on the phone they can special order the "1/95-1/98 FZJ80" PN: 065-080N2. Leadtime ~2weeks est, though expect some COVID logistical delays.

Example fiberglass-foil sleeving advertised, though fiberglass outer would be nicer for incidental hot contact. Or there's colorized fray-resistant fiberglass if just looking to redress over the existing sheath:

*Update* Spector Offroad informed their Japan supplier has discontinued the "1/95-1/98 FZJ80" PN: 065-080N2" transmission kickdown cable, so indeed looking NLA.

We have used Inline Tube for parking brake cables for a classic GMC truck.

They also do custom cables of other sorts. It may be worthwhile to contact them direct and discuss what it is you're trying to do and explain that this is a discontinued cable and that it may be worthwhile for them to duplicate it.

You may have to send them yours to duplicate it, and it will take a few weeks, but it may be worth it.

Add me to the list of folks who could use a new kick down cable........................

Gotlocked: Can you post up the length of the new throttle cable assembly (housing) end to end without the cable, and then just the length of the actual cable along with close up photos of both ends?

Also, curious how the transaction was processed, any issues with your credit card or other form of payment?

FWIW I rewrapped my cable assy with Tesa tape then slipped a piece of adhesive lined 3/4" heat shrink tubing over that, then a section of aluminum coated fiberglass around the section closest to the manifolds.

For what it’s worth I rewrapped my A/C line and trans cable a couple weeks ago with various items from Amazon. Worked out great and is very much overkill.

Trying to add some / refresh the protection to the kickdown. Can’t get the 1/2 heat shrink over the adjusting nuts which requires the rubber boot to come off the throttle side. Normally I’d just tear into these things but since this part is unobtanium I thought I’d ask the group. Can the throttle side rubber boot come off without damaging it?
