Hi!

I have a 2002 LX470 and just got new keys programed after they were lost by the prior owner. The keys are cut and successfully programmed. However even with fresh batteries I need to hold the key up to the windshield to get it to work, like touching the glass. Then it will lock and unlock the car. My dome lights work just fine.

Any ideas what might be causing this or areas to trouble shoot?

Thanks!

I've got the same issue.. Havent tried anything yet, but hope its as simple as changing the FOB battery
I swapped batteries and no luck. I found this old thread using GPT

Does anyone know how to get to this control unit? I cannot find any decent photos on what I need to do to find it and remove it. Thoughts?

Thanks for sharing that link.. I'll definitely be extending the antenna or the box itself with a pigtail.

I havent looked myself yet, but as he says: "The receiver box ("Receiver, Door Control", P/N 89741-60060 for my '98 LC) is buried in the dash behind the power mirror & vent window switches, an area surrounded by a lot of metal and isn't the best for radio reception"

Take off as much trim as you can, get upside down in the wheel well, and hopefully you can see it.

It would be awesome to build an extension thats more plug and play then adding an antenna. I was trying to determine what I might have to buy to do that and connect it myself.
