My 01 came with a pile of keys. 6 valet keys and 3 fobs (2 original as far as I can tell). One of the oe fobs was pretty floppy so I converted that one to a YotaMD, which is now my goto key. I'm very happy with it.

I have all 3 original keys: 2 OEM fab and 1 valet key for my 03. I think I will buy cruiserpatch's YOTA MD Titanium to have one of the fab shells break.

I have the Luxious Auto Flip Style Keys from Taiwan and they are a very nice option: Luxious Auto Flip Style Keys - https://www.luxiousauto.com/products/flipkeys?v=28

Since my 100 only came with a valet key, I had to go through the dance of getting the immobilizer reflashed. Since I wasn't going to pay Toyota prices for new OEM keys with fobs, I went with Amazon keys. I've thought about upgrading the shells since they feel soft, but remember reading the heavy duty aftermarket shell options wont work with aftermarket transponder/fob since the aftermarket signal is much weaker than OEM and that the aftermarket key blade isn't mounted the same as OEM.

Keep the YotaMD in mind if that one breaks at the hinge!

Quick and dirty for a 15 minute on the fly R&R

Well that's one way to address it! What material is that?

I can't speak for other shells, but the YotaMD kits are specifically made for all the remotes - OEM and aftermarket. I painstakingly designed the shell cavity to be exactly as big as needed for the largest of remotes. The thinest of the thin remotes are only slightly different and both work well. The blades are all from the same family of key blade, whether aftermarket or OEM so again, with the YotaMD kit, you're fine. If you ever want to get a solid feeling key, go for it. :)

Truck came with a smoked OEM key and a YotaMD key. I don't like it so I went and got a new OEM one, programmed it and had it cut at a local locksmith for $125.

Anything in particular you didn't like? I wonder if it's one of the real old revs or lacks the new shims to stabilize the blade?

‘01 Lexus has the Yota MD and original. 2000 Land Cruiser got a cheap one at Batteries Plus made and been working great.
