Ok, (2) OEM Keyfobs, put brand new Duracell brand batteries in both.

Both occasionally give the "key not found" message, and i have to touch the fob to the start button to start truck.

Any insight here what to check next?

Thanks

Any LED interior lighting installed? Other owners have reported interference between key fobs and LEDs.

Did the problem start with the new batteries? If so, try another set.

All I know is I can’t get a quote under $450 for a replacement fob here in Chs. Crazy times.

Thanks for replies

I've now, since owning it tried, cheapo amazon bats, energizer, and duracells. All similar results

Might try panasonic next.

Odd, because my 2011 Prius had the same fob, and never once had an issue in 10 years using any battery lying around

No LED lighting at all.

I buy the Panasonics in bulk on eBay. They seem to work the best. My truck is fine but the wife’s Benzo sucks through batteries at an insane pace. Like every couple of weeks. I think the proximity sensor is constantly checking for the key or something, it’s nuts.

Yeah. Somethings weird

Both Prius and the LC are 2010. Fobs identical, visually anyway

I’ve already changed the batteries on the LC fobs more in 1 year than I did on the Prius in 10 years 🤷🏻‍♂️

There's some party trick you can do that puts the keyless entry system to "sleep". Maybe look for it on YouTube. Supposed to help the fob batteries last.

I change my fob batteries annually on my birthday. Had lots of problems like you describe, until I swapped out all the cheap LEDs from SuperbrightLEDs com to the kit from FullyLit. No problems since.

Thanks. I will look into that

Yeah, no LEDs at all anywhere in the truck

Well you should consider it. Highly recommended. The stock interior lighting is pathetic. Just get good ones, don't cheap out like I did at first.

Sounds crazy, but is there any possibility that you have confused the Prius and LC fobs?

Just askin'

Ha. No. The Prius and some $ went to a Friend for the LC

You must have a newer truck with some kind of proximity feature . For my 2014, I have to touch the fob to the button first, anyway. Then I can pull it away and it’ll start.

Good thing the world came out with such an innovative and much-needed starting mechanism. Turning that key was really starting to be a hassle 😎.

Pretty sure Kevin has a 2010.

Yes. I have a 2010

Prius was also a 2010

Don’t have to touch fob to the start button on either

And Prius was a low level base model

That warning and procedure only happens when low fob battery warning comes on

Funny, I never have to do that with my 2013...

It’s probably those dang Scheelman Seats. I’ve heard it can cause this issue.

To help you fix the issue, I’d be willing to take those seats off your hands, because I’m a team player and trying to help
