So I bought a credit keycard for our ‘08 LX.
Our local locksmith who previously successfully programmed our OEM key fob was unable to program our keycard.
We then bit the bullet and took the keycard to the dealer and they too also was not able to program the credit card key. Adding insult to injury, they still charged us $141 for the booked time.
The dealer claimed since the credit keycard is used it may carry the previous owner’s vehicle info and this they are unable to program it.
I have a few questions:
1. Are keycards/key fobs unprogrammable once they are initially programmed?
2. Is it normal to have dealers charge a key programming fee even if it was unsuccessful?
3. Can I mail in my keycard along with a keyfob to have it programmed? If so, anyone you guys recommend?
Thanks!
